Changan Noodle Bar / Atelier Boter

When the owners of Changan Noodle wanted to expand their traditional noodle making business to a noodle bar that serves cooked noodles, what we insisted to apply to the space of the noodle bar are the natural physical conditions in which they sun dry their noodles and the easy-going nature of the traditional Taiwanese street noodle stalls. Pingtung, the very south of Taiwan, is blessed with plenty of sunshine all year long.

“Nang Mai” Garden – is the name that we cherished for this project. A Vietnamese restaurant specialize in rolled foods, with the motto of “Fresh from the farm to the dining table”, we want to turn the space cuisine into a colorful garden. Green, yellow and white are cleverly mixed like a green vegetation under the golden rays of sunlight that go through white garden houses with many patterns.

The project in Kocasinan, Kayseri is a restaurant with a floor area of 2.500 m² with a ground and first floor. The restaurant has been designed considering the local motifs, portico and decorations of the buildings nearby, such as Şifaiye Giyasiye, Hunat Hatun and Sahabiye Madrasas which are local and historical buildings of Kayseri. The eaves in the upper part of the building surrounded the traditional Turkish architecture in a modern way. In the courtyard covered with eaves, which has the feature of passing light, a dining area with a detail of Ottoman lamps was created. The courtyard of the Restaurant Project has been solved by dividers that can integrate with the outdoor space and enable flexible use according to the season.

After learning about the client’s plan to demolish the old amphitheater which was built partially on an existing hill next to two significant Tamarind and Trumpet trees, we proposed to place the new cafe there in its place. On one side, the new building overlooks the preserved amphitheater’s wooden stage, while gaining an unparalleled view of the entire village from all the other sides.

Duke of York Restaurant / Nex—

October 19, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

Nex- were commissioned by Cadogan following an international design competition that sought a new and distinctive restaurant which could be a focal point for the square. Nex- looked to add further value by creating a dynamic and sculptural building that respects and enhances its prestigious surroundings, while incorporating new public space and greenery. Nex-’s point of departure was a Grade II listed wall – originally part of an earlier military asylum on the site but which stood slightly incongruously at the edge of the square.
