The residence is situated facing Hipólito Yrigoyen Park, the largest and main park in the city of San Rafael. Its composition is achieved through the articulation of two volumes; the first, more prominent, adopts a grid structure of 6 x 6 meters, containing all the essential functions of a home.
Conceived as the main residence for a family in a condominium in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, Float House stands out for its privileged location: a corner plot on a flat street in the highest part of the condominium. The residence offers a wide panoramic view, and the large garden terrace on the upper floor complements the complex by providing a space for contemplation for the three suites. The architecture was conceived with the idea of creating a neutral and visually minimalist building. The building’s planes serve as a support for the projection of sunlight, shadows from the trees, and reflections from the water mirror and swimming pool, establishing a sensory object that is closely linked to its surroundings. Based on the coexistence of opposites, the proposal reveals the duality between stability and suspension, weight and lightness, opacity, and transparency. By exploring the physical and visual capacities of matter, the poetry of construction manifests itself through the subtle substances of architecture: the constructed object is the supporting player in the composition, while the immaterial takes center stage.
The commission was for a second residence in the middle of the forest for a married couple, a sculptor and a psychologist, where they would have a place to receive their two visiting children. The initial idea of the owners was that this project would be carried out in two phases for an eventual future expansion. Therefore, a regular grid with two levels was proposed to plan an order for the growth of the house. The first stage would be elevated, then the expansion would be done below ground level, forming a plinth.
Origin – For some reason, the Art Zone on the West Bund of Shanghai was to be demolished, and MOA Studio of Atelier GOM was among them. Almost at the same time, the curator of the Migratory Bird 300 section of the Aranya Theater Festival in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, invited GOM to design a temporary building for artists’ activities and exhibitions. Since the area was comparable, Atelier GOM was prepared to dismantle the key components of the MOA Studio on the West bund of Shanghai and transport them to Aranya for assembly, completing a performance art of migratory birds in flight, as well as a grand funeral for the entire West bund Art Zone. Since the previous space was called the Museum of Distraction, the name of this time will be MOA Museum of Distraction（MMD for short).
The project arises from its implementation in the surrounding area. The building unfolds through very clear geometry, moving away from the conception of compact architecture. This strategy, along with the slender proportion of the construction, allows for increasing the perimeter of contact between the house and the exterior, creating a system of courtyards that seem limitless.
A well-traveled couple who have lived in other European cities decide to return to Sabadell. They have chosen the father’s hometown to raise their two children. They want to live in the city center so they won’t need a car, where they can stroll or make a quick trip to the market. They prefer neighborhood life to a big yard in a residential development. We tore down a building that could no longer be renovated on a pedestrian street in the city center.
As part of improving the value and environment of Mt. Rokko, one of the attractions of the city of Kobe, there is a plan for a public toilet/rest space and a garden newly built in the area at the top of Mt. Rokko. A thin wooden roof that folds in response to the mountains floats lightly on a bench that looks like a large piece of furniture. With the colors of trees and finishes that harmonize with the nature of the national park, it blends in with the environment of Mt. Rokko and creates a relaxing landscape.
Inserted on one of Manaus’s main avenues, VIPE 201 emerges as an internal bet by the Vipe Arquitetura office, aiming to contribute to the city with a building of innovative language and a careful approach to thermal comfort. The project intends to establish a balanced relationship of the construction with time, embracing patina and avoiding aesthetic control.
Chile’s Patagonian landscape is defined by the immensity of nature in relation to the small density of constructions imposed upon it. The Monreal House is in the middle of remote Patagonia Mountain, and its construction processes were thought about this special location condition. From the beginning, given the sitting conditions, the design had to resolve two primary requirements. It is a grid project that considers the adverse conditions that affect construction in this type of region: remoteness, difficult access to and frequent lack of supply of materials, and a harsh working climate. The architectural concept is guided by the slope of the terrain, as well as by the wish to maintain the Monreal ´lake horizon. It was decided that the entire layout should be confined to two levels, establishing a relation to the lake and mountains by sitting the house against the slope.
Paço de Arcos is a coastal parish of Oeiras, at the river mouth of the Tagus, which observes the river’s connection to the ocean. In the 19th century, it was an excellent beach in the Lisbon region, where the capital’s aristocracy bathed, and with the evolution of the great metropolis, it became more suburbanized. In the 1970s, this seaside atmosphere was still alive, leaving behind various constructions with typological references to this summer life that can be found along the coastline to Cascais. The 1970s and 1980s imposed a forced modernity on the historic center of Paço de Arcos, highlighted by a large housing unit with a modernist design facing south, overlooking the ocean above the old rooftops. These were exclusively T1 typologies, with approximately 46m2, featuring small compartments, a kitchenette, and large balconies overlooking the sea.
