The House on the Lake / duearchitetti

August 13, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Each house is a story where it’s beautiful to enter, to observe, to listen, to assimilate. It is here where the architect, with his direction, can intervene to create a new scene! The lake house is a ’70s cottage that has always been used as a holiday home. After this past, there was the desire on the part of one of the heirs to make it a home to be lived in all year round. His home! The need to renovate it and revive it to accommodate a new, lively and dynamic personality, pandering to his passions and requirements, was a strong stimulus for the project! The shared objective has been to make it a home to live in all year round, enjoying a private life or with friends.

A Pavillion Of Rain / Sthapotik

July 14, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Background – The project is an endearing tale of a mother and her son, reminiscing about an old (1980s) building with its surroundings in Dhaka city & the transformation of the once green city into a concrete jungle. The architect met the client while he was playing badminton at the playground located at the site. During their interaction, the architect noticed the client’s love and responsibility towards his mother, as well as the nostalgic emotions he carries about the complex. The architect came to know that the client is the only guardian of his mother, who has been a patient with Schizophrenia for a long time. She requires close caregiving, and the client is the only person who can manage her during the attacks. The story of emotions became the key ingredient of the design process.

House Between Columns / Esteras Perrote

July 11, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

We imagined a continuous space between the street and the house, where boundaries dissolve and coexist. A series of circular columns configure a domestic landscape, where the space structure forms the foundational matrix, and the objective is not the object but the experience. The grid structures the program and supports it without altering the ground. The ramp extends the ground and its use, allowing one to look over a landscape of hills and plains.

The work on the old Porto Industrial Slaughterhouse, a project by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, and the redevelopment planned for Praça da Corujeira are examples of the transformation of the city of Porto. In the near future, the eastern part of the city can respond to the current needs of a contemporary city, with qualified spaces and facilities linked to an efficient public transport network.

Listening-to-the-rain Stop / SWOOP STUDIO

July 11, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Fields with seasonal crop rotation present a changing landscape, while the irrigation canal remains a constant, straight line. I walked along a narrow path atop the canal, leading into the fields. At the end of the path, a black roof lay nestled against the ground. Amidst the colorful fields, the black object stood apart, an element of detachment. I paused in its shadow, resting between terraces. The silent sculpture vanished, its roof tethered lightly to the earth like a kite, subtly reflecting the field’s glow. The space floated around a hidden core, where the echo of dripping water could be heard. The sound vibrated invisibly underground, rising briefly before merging into nature, allowing the space to expand further. Embedded in the cement were old objects, resembling relics that evoked memories of rural life. The pool’s surface rippled gently, with an old water jar overturned inside. I observed the flowing water deep within the rice fields, echoing the unseen Qujiang River, hidden behind the dike. “Listening-to-the-rain Stop” is situated in the fields along the Qujiang River in Zhejiang. The lightweight structure houses an ancient sound device known as “Dripping into buried jar”, which integrates the soundscape of the countryside. This installation explores the fusion of rural everyday life with artistic spirituality through the sonorous landscape of the fields.

CHCW House / Plan:b arquitectos

July 10, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

This commission involved renovating and adapting a traditional two-story house in the Provenza neighborhood in Medellín to transform it into common workspaces and small apartments, sharing services. The house, which had already been converted years ago into the offices of a local real estate company, had a stable structure of load-bearing walls, floors, roofs, and wooden ceilings that we decided to renew and maintain.

Alfacs / Bajet Giramé

July 9, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Every year, sometime in the autumn, a four to six-month window opens for small improvement works to be made in anticipation of the desired spring opening date of ALFACS, a vacation spot in Alcanar, Tarragona, on the Mediterranean Sea’s edge and near the Delta de l’Ebre Natural Park. Since 2016, the Barcelona-based studios Bajet Giramé and JAAS have been leading this respectful and meticulous gradual architectural metamorphosis: a progressive transformation that adds new elements and quality spaces every year for the enjoyment of its visitors. Maria Giramé, Pau Bajet and Manuel Julià, architects and heads of their respective studios, explain the philosophy behind this renovation under the motto “there is no single project, but a process that is constantly evolving”. They emphasize a continuous process of evolution rather than a single, completed project. An approach that underscores flexibility, adaptability, and a long-term vision: There is no “one” project to be completed, but rather a repertoire of strategies and infrastructural actions that have led to a process that is meant to be endless, in constant transformation.

DVS 03 Apartments / Jorge Urias Studio

July 8, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

DVS 03 is a new sector within the Villa Serena apartment complex in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The development is located on a mostly flat lot and within a complex of low-rise brick apartment buildings surrounded by common areas, gardens, a gym, a pool and a business center. The meticulous study of the site and the analysis of the axes of the original buildings were the starting point in the design process to create direct relationships between the new sector and the pre-existing environment.

The Clay Mui Ne Resort / Tad.atelier

July 6, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Located in Southeast Vietnam, Phan Thiet City is renowned for its beautiful beaches, white sand, and year-round warm sunshine. Situated ideally close to the city center, the construction land was initially an old resort built over 20 years ago on terrain sloping towards the sea. Recognizing the land’s great potential, we decided to leverage its existing advantages and incorporate improvements to create a new, harmonious, and friendly resort. We considered using local materials and appropriate construction methods. The goal is to create a welcoming space that respects the site’s existing values while leaving room for new ideas.
