Modernization and Restoration of the Ipiranga Museum / H+F Arquitetos

January 4, 2023 Susanna Moreira 0

The set of proposed interventions does not want to be highlighted. The general objective is not to impose the face of the new, but to reveal in a new way what is already there, through articulations, spatial dispositions and new paths that the interventions discreetly provide. The emphasis of the new elements does not reside in their appearance, but in their performance, in what they are capable of promoting, in their effectiveness in dynamizing and enhancing the virtues of the preexisting ones.

The master plan for the regional center ‘Huysmanhoeve’ in Eeklo is based on the typical typology of the moat farm. This forms the fundament to develop Huysmanhoeve as an open, flexible, and multi-purpose gathering place. This project is about 4 buildings on the site. Two existing barns are renovated, and two new structures are added to this historical site.

A well-established urban residential area in the city of Santo Tirso – The intervention is inevitably a reflex response to this complex and challenging context. Urban plot, confined between neighbors and whose visible confrontations had little or nothing significant from the landscape point of view.

Vakwerkhuis Offices / Vakwerk Architecten

November 19, 2022 Luciana Pejić 0

From the day Vakwerk Architecten started, they had a clear vision for their future office. Once they stumbled upon an old boiler house, once the main source of energy for the Delft University of Technology, they were set on transforming it into a dynamic co-working space that would form a link between the center of Delft and the university campus. The transformed space was to become an inspiring home for both their own company and local entrepreneurs. Sustainability was the main principle achieved by respecting its industrial character, the reuse of materials, and making the building as energy efficient as possible. The Vakwerkhuis is now a vibrant community, once again buzzing with energy!

A traditional Queenslander Typology restricted the nature of a contemporary family home. We wanted to minimize the impact of any extension on the grandeur of the original house. The traditional undercroft of a home in the sub-tropical environment of the southeast has traditionally been the coolest part of the home.

Dar Al Majous / AAU ANASTAS

October 3, 2022 Hana Abdel 0

Located next to the Nativity square in Bethlehem, the Dar Al Majous project is a restoration of a historical residential building from the 18th century. The suggested architecture highlights the shift between domestic and public use of the building. As such, new passages are created, new perspectives on the old building appear, and a new covered vaulted space is built. The projected stairs link the four levels together by inhabiting the interior patio of the building. The vault completes the unfinished part of the building while revealing some of the richness of the interior vaulted spaces from the street. The structure of the vaulted space is made out of massive stone and leans on supports that are either newly built or in strategic positions with regard to the historical building.
