Portello Colmarion Restoration / Studio Bressan

July 3, 2023 Andreas Luco 0

The project for the conservative restoration of Portello Colmarion, in Asolo, in the Veneto region, takes place in a landscape context straddling the anthropized part of the city village on one side and the thick vegetation of the hilly forest on the other. The portal, belonging to the medieval walls dating back to the fourteenth century of the city, is positioned in a panoramic hilly area at 379m above sea level which allows you to dominate the plain below, consolidating the meaning that the poet Giosuè Carducci gave to the village: the city of a hundred horizons.

June 16, 2023 Valeria Silva 0

Witness of a century of metallurgical industry in Dives, the belfry, built in 1892, is a fine example of the dominant architectural style of the end of the 19th century – it has been registered since October 4, 2007, as a Historic Monument. Therefore, the question is how to increase the surface capacity required for the program without altering this exceptional heritage.

Palazzo dei Diamanti / Labics

June 9, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The project for the Palazzo dei Diamanti consists of an organic series of interventions aimed on the one hand at the restoration and enhancement of the sixteenth-century complex and on the other at the adaptation of the exhibition spaces and exteriors. The project is driven by the belief that architecture, unlike painting, sculpture, or other forms of art, is a living art that cannot only be contemplated in its beauty; an art which, in order to continue to exist, must be enjoyed and, if necessary, reinterpreted as it has always been in the history of architecture.

Casa dos Triângulos Restoration / Metrópole Arquitetos

January 31, 2023 Andreas Luco 0

“Casa dos Triangulos” was built in 1956 and designed by Vilanova Artigas in Sao Paulo, Brazil. A raised block configures the general volume of the building and houses four floors in half levels. It has an artistic panel designed by Mário Gruber. The restoration project proposes interventions updating its facilities and adapting the spaces for contemporary uses. It respected the architectural characteristics of the house removing additions that caused problems for its perception. The demolition of the servant’s facilities allowed a new relationship with the gardens that surrounded the house. The change reveals the cantilever at the rear of the house and allows better visualization of the artistic panel.

Chuncheon Art Plaza Bomnae Theater / Simplex Architecture

January 19, 2023 Hana Abdel 0

Bomnae Theater in Memory of Chuncheon Citizens – ‘Bomnae’ is an archaic word for Chuncheon. Bomnae Theater was a performance arena that long played a symbolic role in Chuncheon. This building was built in 1970 as Chuncheon Central Methodist Church (now Chuncheon Methodist Church), the oldest church in Chuncheon. When the church building and its annexes were purchased by Chuncheon City in 2000, it was renamed Chuncheon Art Plaza. Since then, it has been used as a cultural space frequented by citizens for various performances, but the improvement was inevitable due to safety issues and difficulty in facility use, as it was rated as a class D in safety inspection in 2017. For the conservation of the historical value of the building, the local government chose to remodel rather than develop a new structure. The decision was taken to raise the safety rating through structural strengthening and to preserve the symbolic wall decoration. Bomnae Theater was to be renovated by placing an emphasis on the restoration of historical value and sense of place as a modern urban historical and cultural heritage in the memory of Chuncheon citizens.

Santa Ana de Porcuna Chapel Restoration / Pablo Millán

January 8, 2023 Agustina Coulleri 0

The architectural space is defined by light and matter. Building a space is not a constructive exercise, but the process by which these two elements coexist. This project revolves around the remains of what was the hermitage of Santa Ana de Porcuna. A space battered by the vicissitudes of abandonment and aggressive interventions with the building. The main objective of the project was, by recovering and restoring the pre-existing elements, to provide the necessary spatiality to recover the essentials of a religious space.
