The center of São Paulo is characterized by the diversity of surroundings of diferent natures that we can find. Between boardwalks and viaducts, the sometimes inhospitable or chaotic scenario can offer a momentary welcome in a safe environment. And why not with chips and mayonnaise apart?

Jess Restaurant / Biancoebianca

The concept of our project follows a contrast of bright and dramatic colors and has a strong geometrical symbol that keeps on repeating in the space to throw different materials, shapes, colors, and objects. The half-circle, present in the logo of the restaurant and the interior space, a symbol for Biancoebianca studio. Simple patterns and materials are combined to create a  minimal but pop up the interior. The box in box effect, the wow factor of the restaurant breaks the rules of the space. There are more patterns created by simple geometry, more colors usage. The design style is starting to look more dramatic rather than fresh and bubbly. The designers used a Wes Anderson color palette.

China’s explosive growth has been fueled by a large rural to urban migration which has left large parts of the countryside depopulated. At present China is losing around 300 rural villages per day and the Chinese government is looking for rural development models capable of preserving rural life, considered the foundation of traditional Chinese culture and values. Growing affluence allows an increasing number of Chinese to take holidays and travel within China. RYU Peel Restaurant / Ménard Dworkind architecture & design

August 2, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The fifth Ryu sushi restaurant just opened its doors on Peel street in downtown Montreal designed by Ménard Dworkind architecture and design. Once demolition of the existing space was completed, evidence of the building’s past was revealed. The original walls were found to be covered in a patchwork of plaster, paint, and wallpaper, that had to accumulate over the ages. This rich collage inspired MRDK to use the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi for the design direction.

ZENTRAL Café Restaurant / Messner Architects

August 2, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

Through the reconstruction and redesign of the aging premises, there was a welcoming and functional café and restaurant created. In order to bring more daylight to the inside, the existing arched windows at the west and south facade were expanded to the floor. This way these facades create a continuum of the arches on the north side of the building. The arches on the west side facing the street increase visibility between public space and bar, which has an inviting and exhilarant effect on the public life in the village. The generous windows with the basket-awning at the south side expand the restaurant area by a sunny garden, which is now accessible through wooden doors that are integrated into the arches.

Das Waldhorn Restaurant / KO/OK Architektur + Studio Berardi

The medieval old town of Kirchheim near Stuttgart is substantially characterized by its small-scale edificial structure. At the heart of Kirchheim, the “Gasthof Waldhorn” — a run-down ancient inn — has now been demolished. Both the applicable building regulations with the city’s particular “Old Town Statute” as well as the city council with its designated architectural advisory board give little leeway to subsequent construction.
