Firehouse Renovation / Meridian 105 Architecture
In 2019 Meridian 105 Architecture undertook the redesign and adaptive reuse of a circa 1890s masonry firehouse standing in Denver’s LoHi neighborhood. During its operation as a firehouse, the building housed both the horses and carriages used during that era. The structure however stood at the top of a steep hill which proved dysfunctional for horse-drawn fire pumps and therefore was decommissioned in the early 20th century. Since that time, the building has served many other purposes from a 1920s-era speakeasy to its most recent use as an apartment building.
BEEER PARK / ARCHIHOPE
With the change of times, new commercial districts are springing up, while the old neighborhoods and buildings submerged under the torrent of development are gradually forgotten, and those urban corners that were once full of life traces are also gradually fading their vitality. To revive the old neighborhood again and make it a focal point in the city, ARCHIHOPE Ltd. broke the deadlock with BEEER PARK and integrated the cultural atmosphere of local neighborhoods while continuing the brand gene, so that the old building can get a new life in symbiosis with the brand.
Fabric Sushi Restaurant / MURO estudio
Fabric Sushi is one of the most important restaurant chains of its type in Argentina and Uruguay. Although the brand imposes certain guidelines in terms of materials and colors, it allows enough liberty in the general design so that each premise has its own character. There´s no store equal to another.
Ting Feng Xie Restaurant / SALONE DEL SALON
It’s hard for people to find a quiet retreat in the bustling city nowadays. In this context, SALONE DEL SALON conceived a poetic and elegant dining environment for restaurant brand Ting Feng Xie. Here people can temporarily escape away from the hustle and bustle of the city while enjoying delicious crab cuisine. SALONE DEL SALON responded to the brand’s culture and incorporated fashionable, architectural, and artistic elements into the restaurant, to immerse guests in a crab delicacy journey in a diversified dining space characterized by a tranquil atmosphere, pleasant colors, and enjoyable experience.
Wynyard Café / T-FP
The identity of Wynyard was not clear because of various things — a Korean owner-chef who learned cooking in Switzerland and Australia, French modern dining expressing various genres freely, an old building in a quiet back alley of Yeonhui-dong, a town with a strong cultural and artistic background — were mixed and coexist. We, however, thought it could be attractive as itself, and designed the space and brand with the concept of ‘ambiguity’.
Locaāhands Restaurant / Isso Architects
Locaāhand Dining club is a restaurant that specializes in wood fire menus located in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. True to the studio’s dedication to committing to sustainable construction, the design revolved around retaining as much of the original house foundation as possible.
Barbeque Hub at Ella Hotel / KNG Architects
The location of Ella brings one a feeling of enjoying the cool breeze, scenic views of the mountain range, cloud forests, roughness of Ella rock, and softness of Rawana Ella waterfall. The challenge given was to build a small hotel bringing back the sense of being submerged in nature. The site, a 12-perch land enclave within the haphazard neighborhood, hardly bears a single factor to experience the natural settings of Ella other than the cooler breeze, in which the BBQ Hub was born.
Pelosof Bar / Post-Spectacular Office
The building, a 1924 eclecticist galleria located in the city’s center, and its spectacular atmosphere were the major characteristics while thinking about the design concept, even though the interference with the shell was minimal by choice. The design was built up around the idea of gatherings in private courtyards surrounded by artisanal peculiar items, a hospitality take on cabinets de curiosités.
Kuansan Town Restaurant / MUDA-Architects
Project Background. Located in Chengdu, China, MUDA-Architect’s recently completed work “Kuansan Town – Oriental Cultural Life” restaurant resides next to the Daoist temple Qingyang Palace. The ancient Qingyang Palace, originally named Qingyang Si, was built in the Zhou Dynasty (1046-256 BCE). After taking refuge in Sichuan during the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xizong refurbished and expanded Qingyang Si, entitled it The Qingyang Palace. Having survived multiple war ruins and reconstructions, the Qingyang Palace is now the most prominent Daoist temple complex in Western Sichuan and China at large.
