Loft

The old First Municipal Brewery in Prague-Holešovice. A place where beer fermented and beer buckets were stored gave stimulus to an original design of an open and, at the same time, introspective space for creative and modern housing in an industrial spirit. The converted building accommodates a total of forty loft flats; half of them are real industrial lofts in original storage cubicles, six were built during the conversion of the building’s front section and fourteen are in the new addition towards the square.

Or the main point of this project was to integrate with the external area, a fully flexible project to open to the outside, separated by large openings, allowing light and natural ventilation for space and a garden of contemplation and meditation in its surroundings. Or that offers a quiet and pleasant refugee.

The owners desired to create a home whose main objectives were to cherish the architecture of the space, emphasizing the industrial style and materials with the new pieces incorporated into each area. Some original elements of the loft were kept, such as the visible installations, the natural materials and their imperfections. In addition, the customers had the idea of using the space both for living and for hosting events and exhibitions related to the art world. For this, a very versatile and multifunctional space was created capable of covering different uses, sometimes simultaneously.
