Extension

The client, a family of three, started the project as a property developer. Halfway through the design, they loved it so much that they decided to make it their own house. While not forgetting the investment factor (maximising the floor space was a must), we dove deep into understanding their personalities. Exploring their interest in spirituality and meditation, we agreed that the house should become their private sanctuary – protective, calm and serene. As a result, the house became an atmospheric journey, from the secluded basement to the vibrant first floor, orchestrated around dichotomies as dark-light, calm-vibrant, warm-cold or intimate-exposed.

On sloping land beside a creek in the semi-rural outskirts of Brisbane, Pinjarra Hills House adjusts and extends a simple 1970s brick dwelling to better engage its occupants with the landscape, and each other, as part of their daily lives.

The Oblique Extension House comes from the need of the owners to recover a disused terrace of the master bedroom and generate a new deck on the ground floor.

An extension of the existing structure with flowing rooms, blending outside and inside spaces.

The project consists of the renovation and expansion of a duplex-type house located in the City Bell neighborhood, La Plata. The goal was to achieve better spatial dynamics, and have more space for family use. We decided to extend towards the back of the plot, moving the kitchen from where it was, and generating new space for the dining room.

SNOW ARCHITEKTUR in Innsbruck (Tyrol) is focusing on individuality and design and wants to create a special atmosphere for every project. This philosophy was also implemented for the addition of another story to a detached house in Tyrol. The owners of the house have a personal connection to the Tyrolean mountains, which was an initial part of the conceptualization of the project.
