Sesc Avenida Paulista / Königsberger Vannucchi Arquitetos Associados

November 13, 2018 Pilar Caballero 0

The new unit stands out as an extension of the Avenue itself, establishing itself as a free territory to be appropriated by the general public. Among its structural characteristics, the concept is developed in the large accesses, in the various areas of coexistence – with internal squares and a terrace at the top – and even in the choice of materials, such as the use of non-reflective glass. The option for the material, which appears conjugated to zinc plates on the facade, reveals the various activities carried out inside the building. Architecture is only completed when activated by the movement of people, and for this relationship every structure was conceived with the actions that will be developed in the Unit, guided by the “Body-Art-Technology” trinomial.

North Residences / bureau^proberts

November 9, 2018 Daniel Tapia 0

Situated on a compact site comprising just over 500m2 along a stretch of stunning Gold Coast beachfront, NORTH residences are designed to occupy an entire floor, with wide living areas located on the building’s northern edge to give residents uninterrupted ocean views. Drawing cues from the surrounding natural environment, a series of folding concrete spandrels skirt the northern and southern facade of the building inspired by the natural crevasses formed in the adjacent rock formation of the headland. These provide a strong element of layering within the facades and control privacy to habitable rooms along the edge of the building. Sill heights in living areas fall away to the expansive northern aspect.

NANZER Building / V + Arquitectura

November 5, 2018 Daniel Tapia 0

The building is situated in a zone very close to the central area of the city, on Pueyrredón Street, where the low-rise individual housing in a consolidated neighborhood prevails. The architecture does not pretend to be sophisticated, but simple and apprehensive with the neighborhood itself, for that it takes the environment and generates a dialogue with it.

Nest / Beza Projekt

We were commissioned to design interiors for The Nest – a modern coworking space. What is the real mean of the coworking space, how do we work nowadays? We tend to spend more and more time at work, or actually the border between work and leisure is being blurred. You may fight with that or just adapt.

The Half House / Boro Architects + Cochineal Design

Galleries felt like a natural inspiration because they are essentially windowless spaces (necessary for art preservation) that need to be well-lit; therefore, special design attention is given to creating light and air. Once we began to study art galleries, we found ourselves making other gallery-inspired decisions as well. For instance, largely inspired by the display of Alex Katz’s works, we chose large-scale simple art, rather than smaller or busier pieces that might add visual clutter or fuss. Two architectural chairs from the 1960s were sourced from a gallery in Hungary.

Grosvenor Avenue / fourth_space

November 3, 2018 Pilar Caballero 0

Grosvenor Avenue by fourth_space began as a project in 2014 with the architect suggesting to an independent developer that they could deliver a design-led project that challenged the bog-standard approach to materials and finishes associated with small developments. Set on the infill site once occupied by poor quality two-storey semi-detached houses, the building was conceived as a sensitive re-working of the architecture found in the European townhouse typology, adapted to sit within a large Victorian Islington terrace.

STUDENT RESIDENCE / Z+BCG ARQUITECTOS

November 2, 2018 Rayen Sagredo 0

In the center of the city of Mar del Plata in the General Pueyrredón party is located this new and modern compact building. It arises from the need to respond to the student demand for accommodation for students from nearby locations; also looking for the creation of a space that promotes cultural exchange between students and the community.

Social Housing in Belleville Street / Atelier du Pont

November 1, 2018 Pilar Caballero 0

The project is composed of 2 buildings hosting 19 social housing units, and a shop on ground floor. The urban fabric of Belleville is composed of two intersecting systems: on the one hand narrow busy roads lined with typical “faubourg”-style apartment buildings cascading down the hill; and on the other the spaces at the centers of the city blocks, which are very narrow, often planted, and lined with vernacular buildings running perpendicular to the slope.

TJ House / Ben Walker Architects

The project comprised the fitout of a residential apartment in a new building in Braddon, ACT Australia. The apartment is located within one of Canberra’s busiest precincts and has wonderful eastern views across the suburbs of Ainslie & Braddon and to Parliament House and Civic to the south. The project was a team effort between client/builder, joiner, architect and carpenters. The clients’ clear vision for the character of the space led the detailing and material choice.
