Osaka Umeda Twin Towers South is an expansive urban complex with a total floor area of approximately 260,000 ㎡, consisting of a department store, offices, and conference halls, with 3 basement levels and 38 above-ground floors, in an integrated development across the city blocks. This project is a dynamic urban renewal initiative led by the vitality of a private company, centering the complex to create a comfortable city environment by improving the surrounding public facilities and maintaining them for the future.

Housing for Single Parents / Clemens Kirsch Architektur

The area of the former Siemensgründe in the west of Vienna is being developed as a new residential quarter (approx. 530 units) on several building sites. Among them is the „Orchidea“ component, which is intended for subsidised housing for single parents. 124 compact flats on 8 floors are grouped around an inner courtyard open to the south.

Shanghai West Bund AI Tower & Plaza / Nikken Sekkei

Located on the west bank of the Huangpu River (West Bund), which runs north-to-south through Shanghai, this project comprises four buildings, including two skyscrapers. Nikken Sekkei was selected in an international design competition in 2009 to lead a new urban development on the site of the former local Longhua Airport. The firm has been involved in local area urban and architectural design for over a decade. The most distinctive feature of the project is the “wind design” of the overall layout and the shape of the building volumes. The shape and exterior of the buildings, the public spaces in the commercial zone, the landscaping, and the interior designs reflect wind-generated streamlining. This concept runs through the entire project.

8 Social Housing Units / Atelier Régis Roudil Architectes

Located at the bow of a new subdivision at the entrance of the city of Gignac-la-Nerthe, the project proposes to integrate social housing through the use of a special materiality that embodies the territory. The architectural design proposes two volumes that seek to harmonize with the surrounding urban context of isolated and grouped houses. The project and its typological distribution allow for eight dwellings on this plot. The building, constructed in solid stone, resonates with the vernacular constructions of the village. The outdoor spaces are designed in a wooden structure and complete the accommodation with places to contemplate the massif of La Nerthe. The stones from the neighboring quarries make up the facade and mark the place with a particular atmosphere. The raw material expresses its strength.

It was about designing the architectural project of a residential building for the corner lot located at the intersection of Castilho Street and Padre António Vieira. Until then, there was an office building – designed by architect Tomás Taveira – to which the new owner decided to give a new use, apartments, according to the high standards already present in the area. Among other buildings, the former Hotel Ritz.

Hoola London / CZWG Architects

CZWG’s mixed-use Hoola London scheme is located on Tidal Basin Road, Royal Victoria Docks in London. The elegant 23- and 24-story towers, which comprise 360 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, are a shining example of CZWG’s ability to create striking architecture while optimizing the building’s footprint through efficient design.
