Free -Standing Retaining Wall Details and Construction

Free standing walls are above-grade and are textured on 2 or more sides, so you can have a great looking freestanding wall that coordinates with your retaining wall. Or, it can stand on its own. Retaining wall is built with a function to hold back a bank of earth where there is a change of grade. There are different types of retaining walls, and not all require a building consent. free standing retaining walls

A retaining wall must be designed to: support the lateral load or pressure of the earth or fill behind it and any applied loads, such as cars or structures, so the wall does not tip over; and to prevent water build-up behind or below the wall, which will increase the lateral pressure as well as reduce the wall’s bearing capacity and resistance to sliding. The images will show you the freestanding wall construction types.
