Camden’s new cinema represents the adaptation and renewal of the once industrial infill lining its viaducts. The ambition for our second Curzon location sought to retain as much of the landlord’s pre-existing shell as possible, re-purposing the building fabric installed as part of the larger Hawley Wharf regeneration. Working with the inherited materials, we inserted new architectural elements with their own language which now define the public spaces of the cinema.

The glass and metal “sepals” of the sculptural Glasshouse by British designer Thomas Heatherwick can be seen unfolding in this short video filmed at Woolbeding Estate in England. Located in the gardens of the historic property in West Sussex, the Glasshouse is a sculptural and kinetic greenhouse filled with 300 species of subtropical trees and plants.

Winners of the UIA 2030 Award Announced: Acknowledging Architects’ Contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals

Today, at the eleventh session of the World Urban Forum in Katowice, Poland, the International Union of Architects (UIA), together with the UN-HABITAT, have announced the laureates of the UIA 2030 Award. Seeking to acknowledge the contributions of architects to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and New Urban Agenda through built interventions that demonstrate design quality and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this first edition of a biennial awards program, selected winning projects from Germany, Hong Kong, Argentina, Bangladesh, and China, from 125 submitted projects in 40 countries.
