fattstudio has designed the small residence for a young couple who decided to build their own house that reflects their own character, instead of living in a condominium as many of the city’s dwellers choose to do. the project comprises three levels of 50 sqm each, which separate the owners’ living activities according to the level of privacy required. the ground floor encloses the garage, a storage area, and the main kitchen, which is complete with a simple dining table. above it, the living room doubles as a second bedroom for when the couple’s parents come to visit, while half of this floor takes the form of a double-height living hall, where a working area for the man is located. the last floor of the house comprises the master bedroom and a laundry terrace, as well as the void created from the double-height space below.
the house is equipped with multiple ‘ventilation boxes’ which can be found beside the staircase and bring natural light and air within the house. additional openings throughout its exterior also contribute to a comfortable and fresh atmosphere inside, while two exterior terraces allow the residents to enjoy their surroundings. last, an opening on the roof located next to the bedroom features a metal mesh surface that allows one to look all the way down to the planting area of the ground floor.
