April 27, 2020 Hana Abdel 0

This project is a small atelier-style house (87.23㎡) that will be built along the Tokaido Road that Hiroshige has walked and drawn. And this house is home to three generations of painter, his wife, infant and husband’s mother. The design began with the idea of transmitting a large exhibition wall for decorating his work to the city with a maximum length on the diagonal of the site, and decided to separate the living area from the atelier with the exhibition wall.

In the ancient period, the students were taught in an open environment under the trees. We have been inspired by this concept as it helps children to connect with nature. It is a wonderful way to learn various life skills, a great chance for kids to flourish, run, jump, slide, make a mess and explore themselves in a natural and informal way. It is important to play a proactive role in developing a positive outlook towards outdoor games or sports among kids as it brings an overall development and that is just what this building aspires to do.

Vietnam has an abundance of nature and townscapes that are registered as World Heritage Sites. Economic growth due to the increase in tourism has raised the standard of living but has also given way to reckless development by clearing away nature. To tackle this situation, we want to create a house that will connect people and nature. Ha Long, home to Ha Long Villa, is a beautiful coastal city in northern Vietnam, 160 km northeast of Hanoi. It is also home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay. In particular, it is a city abundant with local industries such as fisheries and coal mining, and it is a region that is rapidly developing alongside its tourism industry.

HC House is a residential project of a small family in the urban area in Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh province. We developed this project by connecting family routines, hobbies, professional characteristics and some memories of the old house where they lived in many years ago. This is a townhouse which is a typical type of residential project in Vietnam. Its dimensions is 7.5x19m, the facade is the only open area. The unique context and site constrain create challenges for the designer to create a space that is the modest and the most natural ventilation.

Cholera Treatment Center / MASS Design Group

Cholera—a curable, preventable disease that had not previously existed in Haiti, emerged in 2010 after contaminated waste leaked into the Artibonite River, resulting in rapid spread. When the disease broke, Port-au-Prince’s only waste-filtration plant remained closed following the earthquake, while access to clean water and waste treatment programs was limited. Along with hundreds of healthcare facilities across the country, GHESKIO quickly deployed cholera treatment tents, intended as a short-term response. The tents were difficult to keep sanitary; they were hot in the Haitian climate, deficient at preventing widespread infection, and incapable of providing the human right to dignified healthcare.

UR House is a house for couples with their two children in Ampera, surrounded by dense residential areas in Jakarta, Indonesia. The house with a budget of 600 million rupiahs (37.700 dollars) was developed by utilizing the height of the existing land contour, about 1.5 meters from the road. Cut & Fill land becomes the main strategy to divide zoning service activities on the ground floor with private activities on the upper floor. To reduce the budget, the space program is designed simply without a lot of walls.
