Veil House / 5468796 Architecture

July 27, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

In a prairie-value, conservative-minded early 20th-century Winnipeg suburb composed primarily of large-scale, traditional-style dwellings, our clients sought a home in which to age in place and enjoy a high degree of both airiness and privacy. Veil House is arranged on a loose nine-square grid organized around a central courtyard. The residence is configured as a series of free-flowing open living spaces, (living, family, dining, kitchen, circulation) framed by solid utility blocks, (washroom, laundry, fireplace, storage, appliances). This interplay eliminates the need for walls and doors. The unique configuration allows all living spaces to be spatially defined while also visually and acoustically connected. Double height spaces – sloped ceilings (kitchen + family room), infinite ceiling (dining room), double volume (living room), and open volume (courtyard) blur the grid in sections and create a private primary bedroom on the upper floor.

Located on the banks of the Somone lagoon in the Thies region, the AERYS VILLAGE project is a true haven of peace and natural beauty, totally preserved since 1987. The initial idea was to remain in osmosis with nature. We had to build in the middle of the existing Prosopis. Subsequently, around a hundred trees of different varieties were added to the site. The aim was to create a new reserve of plant biodiversity. The bioclimatic architecture of the project consists of a complex of 08 villas, each built on a plot of approximately 1000 m2.

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and is a notion that holds truth for the residence of Kelly-Ann Myles and Julie Parker in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Their home, with its focal point being a magnificent Chinese Nettle tree, can be aptly described as an ever-evolving architectural marvel. It takes on a transformative journey, morphing through a series of geometric shapes, commencing with a triangle, and culminating in a circle.

Technical Services Base Lysolaje / PROGRES ARCHITEKTI

July 25, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

During the preparation of the project, we found that, unlike abroad, most technical buildings in the Czech Republic are built without architectural care. Often there are distinctive and expensive buildings without a concept and context, where the potential to reveal their unique poetics has been lost. Together with the representatives of the Prague city district Lysolaje, we, therefore, set the basic thesis of the design at the beginning. Functionality, truthfulness, variability, sustainability, respect for the surroundings, quality of the indoor environment, and serving to educate became the main themes, which we further kneaded to obtain a balanced result.

Suetomi AOQ Cafe Stand / G architects studio

This is a coffee stand belonging to AoQ, a new brand established by SUETOMI, the renowned confectionery shop in Kyoto. The stand is on Karasuma-dori street which runs from the Kyoto train station, and is located on the ground floor of a two-story wooden building at an intersection surrounded by hotels and office buildings. The depth of the coffee stand is only about 1 meter and is so small and modest that it can almost be missed in the busy street. Since the depth of it is so shallow, we were quickly able to decide on the floor plan. The kitchen and the resting area were installed side by side, along the street in the front.

Norfolk Barn / 31/44 Architects

July 23, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

Norfolk Barn is the conversion of a disused agricultural barn into a generous four-bedroom family home, characterized by a calm restrained exterior and dramatic interior volumes, which create domestic spaces on two floors within the expansive 450m2 footprint of the original barn. The house celebrates its agricultural heritage, wearing its domestic conversion lightly. Built of quotidian corrugated metal walls and roof and punctured with roof lights, the addition of a high-level veil of vertical larch louvers contributes a finesse appropriate for a dwelling.
