Background – Homogeneous Space
This project is located in Xi’an’s emerging automotive service market, “Xi’an Third Bridge Auto Parts Happy Port”. The object for transformation is a 1420 square meters, reinforced concrete framed two-story building near the entrance of the market.
Founded in June 2001, Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute of Technology (NIT) has been used more than 15 years. The old campus is unable to meet the growing demand for teaching and office works, the school decide to establish a new building. The University hopes the building will be a model to lead the future campus architectures, and also make a good model for the future campus renewal as a whole.
The project is sited at the eastern quarter of Qianmen, the earliest commercial neighborhood of Beijing, with adjacency to Tiananmen Square and historical axis of the city. As part of plan to revival the area powered by creative business and new program for contemporary life, BigSmall is introduced by local redevelopment agency to become an anchor tenant. Accessible from main street, the 100 square feet compact space works as a gateway to a newly upgraded Hutong networks, consisting of numerous renovated courtyard houses managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

Free Balcony An is an interior design that transforms a typical two-bedroom apartment at a commercial housing community in Beijing to a home for a couple both carrying the spirit of classical space and fulfilling the needs of modern life. At the north end of the apartment, there is a small staggered balcony given by the developer for free, which became the focus of this design and also inspired the name of the project.
The Lion International Kindergarten Project is located in an old residential community in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou. Surrounded by old-fashioned houses, the community itself lacks a venue for children’s activities. Children here are in desperate need of a comfortable and safe environment to learn and play.
Mountain, sea and sky of Dadonghai Bay
“This is a hotel landscape upgrading project. Having carefully examined the surrounding environment and the original landscape style of the project, we put forward higher requirements for the renovation of the landscape: maximizing the utilization of coastal landscape.”
New and old, low-key and high-end, market and comfort, these three pairs of antagonistic words often appear in discussion of design life in old but fast-changing Beijing. It is nearly 100 years since the Republic of China this building has been standing in the ancient city area of Qianmen Dazhalan in the center of Beijing. This building has changed from a residential building to a spare parts factory, and then to a Mahjong chess and card room. After several transformations, it has changed several times. Now it will be protected and transformed into a speakeasy club.
Location
Shekou School Square is located at the intersection of Huaguo Road and Wanxia Road in Shekou. As a rare corner plaza around a high-density community, the site was always crowded with a large number of parents and randomly parked bicycles and electric bikes during peak traffic periods.
