June 10, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

The challenge with Deloitte’s office in Lisbon was to redesign and generate new workspace solutions that could promote an upgrade and improvement on the quality of the current workspace. All of this, while encouraging a general increase in productivity and innovation, through the use of new work environments, both within the framework of customer relations as well as internally, with work teams.

The lot situated in the coastal town of Cariló presented a depression in its centre and some pine trees on the rear façade. Two of the main requirements were: ensuring the users’ privacy –as the house is set on a busy street- and no level changes.

In a rural setting, surrounded by farmhouses, agricultural land and woods, a house with traditional elements is located. At the same time, it has a dynamic shape with shifted slopes and folds in the roof that are also reflected in the interior spaces. However, the house retains a traditional shape like those in the surroundings.

Triple Barn House / Mork-Ulnes Architects

June 9, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

Located in Sonoma County, California, the Triple Barn house was designed by Mork-Ulnes Architects as a residential retreat for a chef and her husband. Encircled by nature, but conveniently located near town, the house is both a relaxation getaway for the couple and a cooking laboratory. A place designed for gatherings that would create a new relationship with the surrounding environment. Taking cues from the chef’s philosophy and inspired by the rural building typology typical of the area, the architects used metal cladding reminiscent of the iron-red rusty soil indigenous to the site and relied on local suppliers, builders, and cabinet makers.

The 180 square meter sales office of the NV / 9  ARTKVARTAL  residential complex is situated in a penthouse of an apartment building in the Serebryanicheskaya Embankment, is one of the brightest examples of Moscow’s modern architecture. Our task was to create an unusual, spectacular and representative office space, taking into account the initial unique character of the site – a large light concrete space with panoramic windows, overlooking the Yauza river. A special detail is the non-standard 8,5-meter high gable ceiling.

Rietacher Housing / Urben Seyboth Architekten

The initial concept is derived from the existing park like scenery. Like scattered stones, the non- orthogonal buildings gather around a central place. The group of buildings consists of a single family house, double single family houses and multi-family houses which hardly differ from the architectural language in size and proportions. The irregular shaped buildings provide a huge variation of visual angels and perspectives.

The Duke Housing / Acton Ostry Architects

June 8, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

In recent years, the City of Vancouver introduced housing policies to address current and future needs for housing affordability and choice in the ever-evolving urban environment. The new policies allow strategically located sites to be rezoned to permit greater height and density in exchange for developers committing to provide and operate rental housing for a period of 60 years or for the life of the building. The Duke responds to these challenges with a new rental building typology inspired by precedents from the UK. The Duke is a 14-storey mixed-use development with 12-storeys of residential rental accommodation located above a two-storey commercial podium. The unit mix comprises 25% two-bedroom family units with one-bedroom and studio units making up the balance.
