Panorama – Airtime Bridge Building / Marc Mimram

The building thus becomes a bridge-building resting on either side of the tracks, which are 58 meters apart, its 16,000 tons being suspended above the trains. The effect of this structural arrangement is liberating, making it possible to make particular use of gravitational stresses. Since the stresses are concentrated in the floors forming the bridging structure, the other parts of the building are free. This choice of structural design makes it possible to develop comfortable tertiary spaces. The different areas and spaces extending from the office areas open onto the city or are screened from it by the use of corbelling. The beams of the main bridging are concentrated in the floors with façades pierced with a pattern recalling the Vierendeel beams used. The terraces included on the suspended or supported floors are freely varied.

The project involves the Belgian artist Stief Desmet’s painting and sculpting studio. On the street side you will find the family home, flanked on the left by a narrow brick garage. On the right side there is a lower studio and studio that no longer meets the expectations of the artist who creates ever larger sculptures. The site is characterized by organically grown buildings that vary greatly in terms of materials and finish. The new atelier consists of a primarily double-height brick volume, partly embraced by lower secondary buildings.

The concept of the project arose from the need to have a fluid space, reflecting the new working practices of contemporary life. The layout is distributed throughout the library that permeates the entire office, including corridors. Not being limited to a closed room, it suggests a greater interaction between spaces.

Bedolla House / P+0 Architecture

July 10, 2019 Andreas Luco 0

This small house was designed in a complex topography terrain located between mountains and filled with large cedars and oaks. The program, of approximately 200 sq.m in the interior —much reduced compared to the 2,660 sq. m of the land— leads to propose a project that benefits from the topography taking full advantage of the views and respecting almost all the existing trees.
