The aim of this project is to distribute the gallery spaces in a small three-story building. The first floor contains a public space for readings and lectures, as well as a kitchen to help prepare exhibition openings. At the rear of this level, a room was created for artist residencies, containing its own bathroom and a patio. This level employs a construction system based on unfinished cinder block walls and steel deck slabs on white-painted IPR beams. The enclosures are made specifically for this building from wood, aluminum, glass, and metal mesh.

Productive House La Balconera / Natura Futura Arquitectura

Located in the city of Montalvo, a satellite city of Babahoyo, Ecuador, with approximately 16 thousand inhabitants, has based its urban growth on a horizontal, dispersed, and low density. This has led to the abandonment of traditional organizational systems such as the gallery and the porch that promoted the connection with the street and community life. In this sense, it seeks to recover the link between private and public use.

House Between Walls / AL BORDE

May 25, 2022 Agustina Coulleri 0

The desire to settle forever in a space that feels like one’s own, the search to live in harmony with nature, the need for autonomy of the three members that make up the family, the low budget understood as optimization of spaces and resources, and the phrase “There is always another way of doing things and another way of living”, coined by the owner of the house, became the starting point for our work.

Pensamientos Residencial is a set of 4 homes located in Colonia Reforma, 5 minutes from Downtown Oaxaca. The cost of land has increased considerably and gentrification means that more and more locals live on the outskirts. The project is located on a property with many qualities, including its location, where there is the opportunity to carry out a project that densifies the area and shows an opportunity of what can be achieved through design and commercial strategies since A real estate agent commissions the project with the same vision.

Punta Colorada III Shelter / TATÚ Arquitectura

The land is in an area of maritime forest near the first stretch of the oceanic beach in Uruguay. Here it has a diverse number of native species living in an obscure ecosystem. Amongst these species are the Eucaliptus, Coronilla, or Aruera among other valuable species that we must preserve to build a narrative about the future architecture project and its immediate landscape. At the same time, the topography of the land presents a pronounced hollow on its back and lateral side, because of two ravines that carry natural water from the mountains to the sea.

Lookout Ñielol / Jaime Inostroza

Just a seven-minute walk from the center of Temuco is the main entrance of Cerro Ñielol through Prat street. This axis links the foot of the hill to the other edge of the city, the Cautín River. In Chile, there are only seventeen declared natural monuments and one of them is the Ñielol hill. The ascent to the hill starts subtly by a winding path that follows the contour lines of the existing topography. This path formed by the density of shade from the foliage of native trees is suddenly illuminated by rays of light and landscape windows looking out over the city of Temuco.

Artists’ Ateliers London Design District / BAROZZI VEIGA

May 11, 2022 Agustina Coulleri 0

The Design District on the Greenwich Peninsula is a one-hectare riverside site with 16 new buildings that will provide an affordable base for creative businesses to trade, interact and grow. Eight emerging architectural practices from across Europe were each given a pair of buildings and asked to work blind, without knowing what the others were designed. The result is a provocative diversity of color and form in a new neighbourhood devoted to design, art, tech, craft, and music. In this kind of undefined and evolving context, devoid of urban references, the project defines two very pragmatic buildings – industrial containers that maximize the flexibility of the interior and explore the use of basic construction systems. The project plays with the imagination of an artist’s studio, emphasizing the use of light in a workspace defined by large windows, double-height rooms, and certain raw materiality.
