Studio YY reimagines kindergarten as a hill in the forest – This is a project to reconstruct a 50-year-old kindergarten into a certified childcare center in a one-story wooden building. The site is surrounded by a number of apartment complexes.
House No.16 is located in Damansara Heights, a leafy residential suburb in Kuala Lumpur. The client is a young couple and their lovely pets. They had acquired an old 1970s bungalow that had been vacant for some time. The brief was to refurbish and add new living spaces to accommodate their needs
The project encompasses an area of 2ha, located in the Tay Ho Tay New Urban Zone. The goal is to design a complex for inter-level education from preschool to high school, including personal development facilities such as a performance center and swimming school. The Dewey schools’ architectural features manifest a modern, and liberal ambiance, standing as a landmark in the wider land area.
As the name evokes, the house is hinged around a Mulberry tree that was the only feature of a barren site. This Mulberry tree was a very old and mature landscape element when the site was first visited. The placement of the tree developed as the paramount device to configure the residence design that gave the house its unique identity.

The project in question, is a renovation and expansion of the second floor of a 1950s building, in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil, with the aim of transforming an old residence into a bar and restaurant. The architecture was guided by the critical project intertextuality, a search for contemporary solutions and time-spatial arrangements that, at the same time, revere the past.
