Elderly-friendly Residential Renovation / MONOARCHI

May 8, 2022 Collin Chen 0

Located in a community built in the 1980s on the county border of Fenyi, Jiangxi, the old house has been standing there for over forty years. Time stands still in the community while the world outside has undergone radical changes. The house had been extended mildly several times over the years, but it is left behind by the time and a huge disconnect appears between the interior space quality and modern life. Lack of daylight and poor ventilation in the interior pose relevant safety concerns for the house owner who is of old age. Twin Home / The Grid Architects

A recently completed residential project… The cuboids (representing diverse functionalities) that dominate the built-form are orchestrated to create intimacy without being restrictive. The design consciously strengthens and unifies the landscape with the architecture. Sunlight is treated with reverence: the house takes advantage of this natural resource as much as possible, and together with internal courtyards, ensures a living environment that is nourished by the sun and air, and embraces the features of biophilic design.

Entrusted with breathing new life into a colonial heritage building with over 50 years of history, we sought to infuse contemporary-modern ideas into the development without losing the nostalgia of the colonial-style influences or existing character that is unique to Pratamnak Hill, Pattaya. Our efforts lead to the amalgamation of both modern & colonial design expressions, in the architecture and landscape design, crafting a luxurious 5-star hotel experience overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.

Falmouth Memorial Library / Simons Architects

May 7, 2022 Valeria Silva 0

The Falmouth Memorial Library had its beginnings in a home the library purchased in 1951. As the demand for services and space increased, the library constructed an addition in 1995 with a large meeting room and additional children and adult areas. Since that expansion, there has been a 238% increase in circulation, putting a growing strain on the already tight space.
