Amherst College Greenway Residences / Kyu Sung Woo Architects

This small, historic, liberal-arts College is undergoing a transformation of its eastern side of the campus, entitled the Greenway, of which the Greenway Residences are the initial step in this plan. The design focuses on creating a diverse community that connects the historic past and future of the College. The 295-bed residence hall is broken down into four interconnected buildings that surround a central outdoor community space. The buildings are laid out on two axes. The two northern buildings align with the historic grid of the main campus to the north, while the two southern buildings shift to align with the grid of the southern topography and future expansion of the campus. The porous arrangement of the buildings allow for fluid movement and views through to various areas of the campus.

Polyclinic of University CEU San Pablo / Adam Bresnick

The program confines four different CEU San Pablo University faculties necessities (odontology, physiotherapy, psychology, and nutrition) in a unique 2.780 m2 space arranged in two different levels, located on Almansa 66 Street on the Tetuán Madrid district. While on the first floor space is dedicated to conventional classrooms and student changing rooms, on the ground floor the protagonists are the odontology clinic’s curved boxes. This boxes are arranged in clusters of four allowing teachers to simultaneously tutor the treatment of four patients at the same time, allowing communication between student and teachers without compromising the privacy of the patients.

Many of NCTU students suggest proposal of starting up their own business every year. Therefore, we provide them a free flowing platform gathering their ideas. With different duration, form and group size, how we define this space? By involving the metaphor of trees and birds, we want to show the relationship between the centre and students.

Daniels Building at University of Toronto / NADAAA

The Daniels Building at the University of Toronto embodies a holistic approach to urban design and sustainability. As the new home for the John H. Daniels Faculty of architecture, landscape, and design, its purpose is to engage students and the broader community in dialogue about the built environment. At the center of one of Toronto’s few circular parcels, the project anchors the southwest corner of the University and opens the circle to the public after years of inaccessibility. It restores the historic and forgotten building to its original grandeur while also integrating a new addition.

Comprehensive Building of Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University / UAD

Founded in June 2001, Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute of Technology (NIT) has been used more than 15 years. The old campus is unable to meet the growing demand for teaching and office works, the school decide to establish a new building. The University hopes the building will be a model to lead the future campus architectures, and also make a good model for the future campus renewal as a whole.

Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering / LMN Architects

The Gates Center greatly expands the current capacity of the school, providing critical research spaces, classrooms and lecture spaces, faculty offices, and a new home to the School’s undergraduate majors. At the heart of the building is a large central atrium that provides visual and physical connections to all floors, and acts as the school’s cultural hub. This daylight atrium is an important social incubator in this technology-centered environment, fostering connections between students, encouraging interaction among teams, and reflecting the department’s culture of innovation and collaboration across disciplines.
