The project is aimes to achieve the functional restoration of the former Saint Rocco’s church, for cultural purposes, while transforming it into a permanent theater and a multi-purpose hall. Mildly maintained over the years, the building has been affected by general renovation works on the roof with the addition of a reinforced concrete curb stiffened by transversal steel tie rods and the replacement of the original roof with a concrete and masonry structure.

The project, an detached single-family house, begins with three main ideas. First, the low environmental impact. Both in the construction phase and in the use of the house, maximum energy efficiency and minimum environmental impact are sought. The structure of the house is CLT (contralaminated wood) and a dry construction has been chosen, with the use of the most sustainable materials as possible. The house is equipped with an aerothermal system accompanied by solar panels that cool and heat a floor heating system. The air conditioning set is complemented by a system of air renewal with heat recovery that allows to constantly ventilate the interior air without losing the comfort of the interior.

Located on the edge of an urbanization of the 60s, halfway between Carmona and Seville, the size of the plot (more than 4000 m2), its peripheral position and the absence of neighbors, make the physical space where the housing in something fully rural, empty of any urban or built reference. With these wickers, the implementation strategy resumes the invariance of Andalusian rural architecture, based on geometry and the creation of exterior spaces – central and secondary courtyards- around which the building is located.
