The Landing House is a modern wood pavilion integrated into the rugged natural landscape of the Mojave Desert, against the backdrop of California’s Joshua Tree National Park. Approximately 130 miles east of Los Angeles, and only minutes from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, The Landing House is seemingly worlds away. Designed with sustainability at its core, and at every turn, the home masterfully blends into the layout, textures, and color palette of its desert canvas.

Tiny House TEKITEKI-AN / 6lines studio

Rain falls on the mountains, seeps into the ground, and eventually flows out to the sea. It evaporates, forms clouds, and then falls on the mountains once more. Within this great water cycle, a summer orange tree was spotted. The tree absorbs water from the ground and yields delicious fruits. If we climb the tree, the sea becomes visible in the distance. This is why the architecture is called “TEKITEKI-AN”; “TEKITEKI” symbolizes the water cycle starting from ‘drop by drop’ and “AN” signifies a traditional Japanese small house.

Maroquinerie de la Sormonne / Coldefy

January 7, 2024 Pilar Caballero 0

« The Maroquinerie de la Sormonne project is part of a formerly cultivated natural space, in the heart of a region with a rural and forest tradition. Against the backdrop of a tree-lined valley and reed beds sheltering the nests and broods of marsh birds, time seems to have stood still like a painting by Renoir. In this unspoilt natural environment, the project offers a contemplative immersion within a large horizontal house, whose ‘folded’ design forms a new canopy of wood, a topography sheltering an artisan village. This reference to the symbolism of the house, a place of life but also a place of history, of heritage, of family transmission, its inscription in the surrounding nature, and the challenge of revisiting the archetypal workshop and reinventing the work environment guided the whole conception of the project. By creating an architecture with simple volumes and transforming the traditional design of the shed roof in an unprecedented way, we imagined for Hermès the future of the production workshop: timeless, bioclimatic architecture to enhance the well-being of its occupants. »
