Homa Vagia Summer House / MOLD Architects

May 12, 2023 Andreas Luco 0

HOMA is a small boutique hotel of 180 m2. in Vagia Serifos. It consists of three independent lodgings, with 2 bedrooms and a small living area each. The outdoor areas – proportionally much larger than the indoor ones- include kitchens, living / dining areas and private swimming pools for each unit. The context in which the project was created is the South of Serifos – an area scarred from an intense mining activity. Traces of the mining facilities are scattered throughout the wider area and signify the existence of a “second level of habitation” – a rich subsoil and a very important cultural heritage.

Doki Doki Concept Store / The Architecture Story

April 28, 2023 Hana Abdel 0

Situated on Calicut Street in the Ballard Estate neighborhood of South Mumbai, this site was previously an abandoned ice factory that served as a storage facility for ice produced a few doors down. During our initial site visit, we discovered a raw warehouse space that offered numerous possibilities for intervention. It was crucial for us to maintain the warehouse’s integrity, including its pitched roof and wooden beams. Fortunately, we had a client who was passionate about design and open to taking risks, allowing us to create a flexible, modular system that respected the warehouse’s history.

April 22, 2023 Collin Chen 0

At the forefront of the New Special Economic Zone, Qianhai continues the innovative characteristics of Shenzhen for more than 20 years of reform and opening up, carries the unique Marine culture as the core internal driving power, and demonstrates the innovative and inclusive urban spirit. The customer experience center for BMW is located at the junction of Zhenhai Road and Gangcheng Road in Qianhai Cooperation Zone, Shenzhen. Taking into account both the hot and humid environment and conforming to the spirit of the city, the designers reinterpreted the existing building based on the design principle of sustainable development. The relationship between buildings and urban texture is a synthesis of objective existence and subjective judgment. Integrating into the urban texture is not only for the agreement on the style of the facade but also for the integration of internal spirit, the synchronization of lifestyle, and the corresponding to future development. The project is a transformation from an existing old workshop building, and the designers focused on the problems such as architectural facade, noise, shading, ventilation, and daylighting and then rejuvenated the inherent vitality of the overall project.

Interior design for a second store specializing in luxury watches from around the world. The site is part of “Nakano Broadway”, a commercial facility known as a mecca for subcultures, with a high density of various products and small stores. In recent years, it has also become known as a mecca for luxury watches, with many watch stores lining the streets. Since the store is in a unique commercial facility, it was necessary to follow the brand image created by the main store, but also to reconstruct it in consideration of the different environment and relationship with the clientele.
