10 Jay Street, a landmarked building in DUMBO flanked by the Manhattan Bridge and flush with waterfront views, has been brought back to life through the creative vision of New York-based architecture firm ODA. Built in partnership with Triangle Assets, the 230,000 square foot property includes 10 stories of open floor plates, each with original detailing and characteristics that bring you back to the industrial age. It is a key historical building, which witnessed the development of Fudan University and held many academic conferences as well as political meetings including the visit of the former US president Ronald Reagan to China in 1984. It is also once the appointed background of the graduation photo of Fudan students. However, as time goes by, it has lost its original importance. Except that the second floor still acts marginally as the ceremony hall, the ground floor has become the place for storage, renting facilities and retailing. The conservation of Xianghui Hall is intended to reveal its historical value, use value and cultural value.

Hanna Boutique Hotel / Persian Garden Studio

August 2, 2019 Pilar Caballero 0

These remaining structures on Lolagar Alley are some of the best examples of architecture from the First Pahlavi era, a time when modern architecture was beginning to appear in Tehran. Initially all six of these buildings were residential, but over time, like many other buildings in downtown Tehran, they were left unoccupied. Hanna Project, which includes a hotel, restaurant, gallery, and multipurpose spaces, was designed in one of these buildings, with the intention of bringing life back to Lolagar Alley and Tehran’s city center.
