Renovation

Moorhouse is a veiled house on a public lane that holds stories and surprises within its walls. Despite its small size, measuring only 4.5 meters wide, this Victorian terrace has been lovingly restored and transformed into a peaceful retreat on a modest budget. 

The Casa Pasco project begins with an anonymous and unknown history enclosure. Only a container composed of four walls, a vaulted roof, a blurred facade due to abandonment, and three large openings facing the street. 

Located in the tree-lined neighborhood of Vila Madalena, close to Praça Vicentina de Carvalho, the house, with well-segmented and dark environments, received a coherent renovation, as it aimed to modernize the house according to the needs of the couple, at the same time that preserved the history of the residence, conserving elements that were relevant and adapting those that could be updated.

The CIAHAD cabin is located in Arosa at 1’800 meters above sea level, with a magnificent view of the breathtaking landscape of the Grisons Alps. The town is characterized by old mountain barns and buildings of the early tourism movement.

The Villette project is about the adaptation of the space to the life change of its owners, like the arrival of a baby. Rather than moving for a bigger apartment, the clients wanted to question the potential of their existing apartment.

The abstract reconstruction of a dilapidated barn provides the required inward expansion of the main house. The new living spaces in redwood flow into the barn and open up the main house onto the garden. As in the past, arches add rhythm to the abstract volume, and a covered terrace connects the interior courtyard with the rear garden. The stable was renovated with visible concrete additions and serves as a storage area, but an inward expansion of the farm will also be possible in the future with a guest room.

The staircase between the first and second floors in a large townhouse has made way for a new staircase that leads directly to the second floor. The wood-covered staircase is a readable sculptural addition that makes it possible to divide up the large house while preserving the typically large spaces of the townhouse.

This is the refurbishment and enlargement of a house in the Barrocal region of the Algarve, in the south of Portugal. This is a transition area between the coast and the Caldeirão Range of Hills to the north, mostly agricultural land producing citrus fruits, almonds, and figs. 

The project consists of the rehabilitation of an old house located in the center of Sabadell. It is a typical location in the city where we find narrow plots facing two streets. The neighborhood is characterized by small buildings between party walls on the ground floor or the ground floor and upper floor.

Nestled within the enchanting confines of Alcamo’s historic center, resides a true architectural treasure with a venerable past. The timeworn walls of a 16th-century church, now deconsecrated, have given birth to a remarkable renovation endeavor that skillfully showcases and reinterprets its historical essence in an avant-garde manner. The culmination of our efforts yielded a harmonious fusion of history and modernity, where luminosity permeates every recess, cultivating an inviting and vibrant atmosphere. This project stands as a testament to architecture’s profound ability to breathe new life into historical spaces, exalting their intrinsic beauty for all to behold.
