On the « Three Mills» road in Sarzeau, one of them is now surrounded by new plantations: 6 hectares of vineyards. This mill, centrally located on the site, radiates like a lighthouse in the heart of the vineyards. With limited space available for construction, the winery project must be situated close to the mill. The municipality of Sarzeau aims, through this project, to achieve several objectives: to provide functional buildings to the winemakers, to ensure harmonious integration of the project with the surrounding environment of the mill, and to create a cultural space connected to agricultural activity.

An IWAN is a sitting place that is higher than its surroundings, which is usually built in the outer part of a building. An IWAN usually consists of a single arch, enclosed on three sides, and open to the nave. The most famous example of an IWAN in Iran’s past architecture is TAQ KASRA. This project is an exercise and experience that serves as a connection to a period of Iran’s glorious history. It’s an attempt to connect one of the most prominent architectural archetypes of the past, the IWAN, to a dilapidated villa, which itself belongs to the period of the introduction of modernism before the Islamic revolution; 50 years have passed since the construction of this villa.

September 6, 2024 Valeria Silva 0

The building, located in the heart of Porto’s historic center, stands as a testament to the end of the 19th century. Comprised of 5 floors, it is intended for housing on the upper floors and commerce on the upper floor. As the street where it is located (Rua de Mouzinho da Silveira) is perfectly delimited by a continuous urban front and, for the most part, made up of residential buildings with commerce on the ground floor, from this perspective, the rehabilitated building essentially assumes , a role of continuity, contributing to the coherence and quality of the complex, not only from a programmatic point of view, but also in the treatment of the facades.

Giovanni Batista Piranesi was an Italian printmaker during the 18th century. His interest in the ruins of the Roman Empire led him to create an extensive catalog of reproductions. His fascination with these ruins in many cases led him to invent them, creating an imaginary world of ancient destroyed buildings. His legacy was a contribution to the formation of neoclassicism.
