The project aims for environmental excellence. Niki de Saint Phalle middle school is designed with a passive approach in the construction (Passivhaus), with its wooden frame and insulation straw. It is the first positive energy college in the Region Grand Est and the first ERP in R+3 made of wood and straw in France. The simplicity – in the choice of materials or the compact and functional distribution of the program opens up to freedom: the volumes, flexible and scalable, adapt to the always renewed interior life of a middle school.’’

Salle du Coum Sports Complex Renovation / ENO Architectes

April 13, 2023 Valeria Silva 0

Located near a college, the new Coum sports complex, beyond its specific program, must reinvent and enlarge an old sports hall and find its place in its immediate environment, integrate smoothly, and dialogue with the city. The replacement of the translucent parts of the existing room is an opportunity that we seized. This new coating is continued up to the level of the existing hall, a translucent ribbon then takes shape, folds, and envelops the two main volumes in ample movement.

The Chicken Coop / Arnau estudi d’arquitectura

April 2, 2023 Valeria Silva 0

Chuck, chuck, chuck…  called the landscape of our childhood. And we approached that wild chicken coop. It offered us a roe deer that observed us, a green woodpecker that was blending with the background, and several gardeners that gave us courgettes and onions. And then came the low fog of winter mornings, and the frost. The water flowed through the gutters, and we ate loquats from the tree, fresh and free of charge. And we could not leave. Because we wanted to be part of that landscape, without making noise, with our eyes open and a joyful spirit.

Magnolia House / nicolas&nicolas + Caá Porá Arquitectura

March 26, 2023 Valeria Silva 0

Casa Magnolia is an alternative response to the common housing enclave. It seeks to understand it from the perspective of a series of spaces that are inhabited by a family, rather than from the perspective of an architectural element. Implanted in a suburban context full of nature and away from the urban environment, it’s a symbolic volumetric composition that represents each space of the house as a part, with its own specific characteristics, that relates to the environment and to the whole.
