The house belongs to Genaro. He is its protagonist and originates the main premises that this house should attend to. To improve your quality of life, the house is the result of alternatives that achieve the highest level of accessibility and independence, with the fewest number of routes, without altering the privacy of all the functions it contains.
A historic mews house refurbishment and extension recently completed in SW1 by Well St Studio and Turner Works using a sparse palette of materials with careful and precise interventions into the existing fabric creating a calm and cohesive new home.
The overall interior design consists in maintaining the existing principle of an open office, the so-called open-space, as well as in adding new material and spatially defined functional spaces. These cylindrical volumes are located in contrast to the workstations in the middle of the layout and partly around the perimeter.
The house appears in the village of chancelarias’ core – once the epicenter of the daily bustle, is now ceased by the silence of the lands of Alentejo and the restlessness of the swallows that lodge in the church. Times change but the memory remains in the intrinsic characteristics of that humble life.
FROD gives the name to the refurbishment of a flat in the centre of Madrid. The project faced two great challenges: to redirect the light so that it would invade the entire apartment and to bring back its original character.
An apartment in the south of Moscow is located in a new house among the buildings of the mid-20th century. Initially, we were faced with the task of making an apartment for two very noisy and active children and a married couple who spend a lot of time outside Russia. It was important for them to give the main space with a long corner window to the maximally open living room, where everyone will spend a lot of time together, as well as cook and watch a movie on a large projection screen. Customers came to us realizing that over the years of work we have formed our own language, which includes elements of amateur architecture, the beauty of randomness, and works with inexpensive materials, which we love to find new applications and see new readings of their meanings.
In January 2021, Diego Rivero Borrell from the TANAT studio was invited to do a 6-week residency at Casa Wabi. The approach was to carry out an art project for the children of the primary school of the brick community of Agua Zarca:
We found a house that, in appearance, was not interesting in its distribution or its materials by itself. From the access, through a dark corridor running through the entire house, there were rooms on both sides.
Baba’s restaurant draws its inspiration from the architecture styles of rural havelis and houses of Punjab. The idea is to create an upcycled space with a traditional material pallette from around the context. The entrance alley is a longitudinal monolithic axis created using mud plaster/phuska and depicts the bazaar streetscape using different volumes, elements and layers. Masons and artisans were brought in from the neighbouring villages to create the phuska mixture and apply it on the walls/surfaces.
The residential house is located on the brink of a forest, on a hillside above Cerknica field. From here, views of the beautiful Cerknica intermittent lake open up. It was precisely the breathtaking views that served as the basis for designing the architectural idea. The house is nestled parallel to the hillside. It was designed as an elongated volume with a steep gable roof. It opens up towards the valley via a grand panoramic window, while remaining predominantly closed off towards the forest. Here is a single window that overlooks the courtyard and entrance.
