Nº1 is an exclusive penthouse located on one of the most iconic streets in the city of Amsterdam, Vondelstraat, right next to the Vondelpark. The uniqueness of how this house has been conceived is the way space and volume have been understood on a totally new level, offering an enormous variety of spaces, sequences, and visual relations. It is an exercise to create a space that transmits serenity, calmness, and the possibility to connect on deeper levels individually or collectively.

“10k House” is the refurbishment of a 50m2 flat located in Barcelona with a material execution budget of only 10,000 euros, but with the aim of updating the home towards new models of use and environmental awareness within the framework of the current energy crisis and climate change. Far from the glitz and glitter of Hollywood, Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney designed this Los Angeles home for a half-Taiwanese, half-Chinese family seeking rest and peace. The busy couple—both are attorneys—and their two children who live in this house in Santa Monica, California, had a straightforward yet ambitious brief for the EYRC Architects team: They wanted “a place to get away from it all”.

Urban Oasis – Hotel Room / Natan Gil Arquitectura

An oasis is like a mirage. Life and nature manifest in the midst of the aridity of the desert. This was the inspiration, the concept that started everything. The reality of the great Middle East trade caravans is connected to the reality of contemporary life. If in that context people searched for water, food, and rest in the hostile desert, we seek relaxation, disconnection, and contact with nature in the midst of a hurried and fleeting daily life. That is how the Urban Oasis came to life, an environment presented at CASACOR Minas 2022.

Black Barn / studio] [Space architecten

February 4, 2023 Valeria Silva 0

The ambition for the Black Barn is clear; a modest but high-quality construction that draws all attention to the landscape behind it. It has a closed character on the street side but has a breathtaking view of the side of the river and the landscape behind it. The green craft is in the blood and that passion is gladly shared. The new office, therefore, offers space not only for people but also for flora and fauna. For example, the facade includes numerous nest boxes in which the flying inhabitants had already taken up residence before the official completion.

66° North Flagship Store / Gonzalez Haase Architects

The holistic concept of the project revolves around the ethos and ideals of Iceland. We wanted to capture the essence of Iceland without being stereotypical. The weather in Iceland is a very real and prominent feature in the land and we classified this as static (the island) and forever changing (the weather). These dynamic changes are what we wanted to capture in the project. The static island of Iceland stands still in comparison to the constantly evolving and adapting weather but this influences the perception of the island.
