February 8, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

LIVE EUR is a new residential building in Rome by studio IT’S, whose design was inspired by the main principles of Active House: environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and people’s comfort. The building consists of 7 floors above ground, 12 apartments (3- 4 roomed units) as well as a penthouse; the architects’ choice of high-quality materials and construction techniques results in comfortable and highly energy-efficient interiors. The building is powered by heat pumps and solar panels, which, as renewable sources, prevent all emissions in the atmosphere and grant the building a neutral environmental impact; domotics helps reduce energy waste by automatically regulating internal temperature, lighting, and solar screens.

Duplex / Atelier st + Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH

The property is located on the edge of a mature residential area in Portitz, in the north-west of Leipzig. In addition to the immediate proximity to nature, it is characterized by the neighborhood of a heterogeneous single-family house development and an already grown garden vegetation. Nature, the nearby forest, and the orchard played just as important a role as the translation of the surrounding buildings into a contemporary architectural language. The defining characteristics of the estate were translated into a gabled residential building. It is the archetypal image of a house that every child draws. However, this basic figure did not remain alone. In keeping with the motto “two are better than one”, the overall appearance of the new building is made up of two offset, narrow house volumes.

The Rosegold Apartment / Raúl Sánchez

February 5, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

The existing apartment, measuring 85 sqm, is the result of the division into two a large apartment with two opposed façades to Enric Granados Street and a generous interior courtyard in the Ensanche Derecho of Barcelona. The outcome of the division distorted the original flat, which enjoyed its access at its center. Now, the access is located at the interior end of the apartment, driving the natural flow towards the exit to a spacious interior gallery room overlooking the big interior courtyard. The existing flooring, consisting of a rich variety of ‘nolla’ mosaics with drawings and colors of great value, was preserved.
