The renovation of an apartment built in the 1970s in São Paulo aimed to adapt it to the needs of a young family. The original floor plan by architect Ruy Ohtake was restored and given specific updates – to enhance the programmatic aspects of this modernist dwelling.
The project is built on a 528.63m2 plot located in lot 08 of Block P located in the district of Punta Hermosa, province and department of Lima – Peru. This lot is located between La Carabela Street.
The project focuses on the rearrangement of the kitchen and service area – and the relationship between these programs and the social areas. The service area was moved to a space in the former kitchen, allowing this program to be set up in a more appropriate size for the property. With this inversion, the kitchen having its area enlarged, a fundamental action to make this room more central to the day-to-day life of the house, it was also possible to create a dining room connected to both the living room and the kitchen – freeing the living room from this program.
UK architecture firm Studio Egret West has shared its plans to create housing within two concrete 1960s buildings in London, which were formerly the headquarters of food company Heinz. Harnessing soft whites and gently curving plaster forms, interior designer Johanna Amatoury has brought a holiday-house feel to this apartment in the peaceful Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine. The duplex belongs to a couple who work in real estate and their three young children – a globetrotting family with a particular love for the Greek islands.

Featuring one of the old public housing built in Shanghai with a typical rod-like layout, this project is to improve a 41m2 apartment accommodating a cat owner’s daily life. To personalize and activate the interior, a curved wall was introduced along with an overall rearrangement, which proposed an alternative to bring a dull outdated household back to life.
The project is located in the Old Eixample of Mataró, the capital of Maresme, a coastal city with a temperate climate due to its geographical location. The starting point is an empty plot very close to the coastline, in a compact urban area where the “casa de cos” typology predominates.
Local design studio Hauvette & Madani drew on the Haussmannian history of this Paris apartment to create a gallery-like interior for its occupant’s vast art collection.
