The starting point for this project was a building from the 1990s that featured a non-habitable gable tile roof, with exclusive access from the top-floor flats. The building is located in a prime area of the city of Lisbon – Campo de Ourique – and the chance of vertical expansion was a very attractive solution, since it would be possible to double the area of the apartment.
Grosvenor Avenue by fourth_space began as a project in 2014 with the architect suggesting to an independent developer that they could deliver a design-led project that challenged the bog-standard approach to materials and finishes associated with small developments. Set on the infill site once occupied by poor quality two-storey semi-detached houses, the building was conceived as a sensitive re-working of the architecture found in the European townhouse typology, adapted to sit within a large Victorian Islington terrace.
Tower House is an experiment in vertical living. A typical bungalow of 400 square meters is squeezed into a footprint of 6.5 x 12.5m, forcing the program up five stories rather than spread along the ground. Despite the stacked floors, the design generates the experience of living in a house, with a diversity of spatial types throughout its section. At the same time, it takes advantage of the benefits of moving vertically with efficiently organized services, views across the city, and greater potentials for both stack and cross ventilation.
The project consist of the remodel of an apartment located in an old building in Barcelona’s Gracia district. The former 90 m2 apartment, was heavily partitioned with up to 6 rooms and gave off a dark appearance with almost no connection with the outdoor space.
The project comprised the fitout of a residential apartment in a new building in Braddon, ACT Australia. The apartment is located within one of Canberra’s busiest precincts and has wonderful eastern views across the suburbs of Ainslie & Braddon and to Parliament House and Civic to the south. The project was a team effort between client/builder, joiner, architect and carpenters. The clients’ clear vision for the character of the space led the detailing and material choice.
Since all of the Arghavan complex units are owned by the members of a particular family, the interior design was done using a specific physical plan. These spaces consisted of 4 separate units with 3 units of 170 meters and a duplex unit, a hall for celebrations and parties with storage rooms and facilities in the first basement, and a swimming pool and gym in the -2floor. In addition to creating an intimate environment, special attention was paid to green space in order to gather together all members of the family.
Luminous, curvilinear facades, ribbons of generous balconies separated by wood panels… At the foot of the Montagne de l’Aigle, Architect Jean-Baptiste Pietri’s studio has created a new programme of 145 apartments, a stone’s throw from the coves of the Massif des Calanques that gave the project its name: La Crique.
The project reinterprets the spatial conception of a typical apartment from the beginning of last century in Barcelona. A space full of interior rooms, doors and halls, which does not adapt to the current needs of a living space.
De Lakfabriek is part of the former leather factory complex KVL, which for years was one of the largest leather producers in Europe. De Lakfabriek initially served to paint the leather sheets, subsequently it functionated as a technical service. In 2001 the company ceased operations and closed their doors.
Rassvet LOFT*STUDIO is situated at the central district of Moscow. It occupies the territory of the former furniture factory owned by famous Mur&Mereliz trading house (now TsUM — Central Universal Department Store). During the soviet times mechanical engineering plant ‘Rassvet’ (The Dawn) was situated at this plot. It’s connected with the names of outstanding aircraft designers Sergey Korolev and Semyon Lavochkin. Nowadays all the territory is a high-density development that represents different architectural stiles reflecting the history of all 20th century.
