Refurbishment Philips-Haus / Josef Weichenberger architects + Partner

January 26, 2019 Rayen Sagredo 0

Philips Haus – an icon of 1960s modernism – forms a welcoming gesture on the southern entrance to the city of Vienna. Although dwarfed by nearby Wienerberg City, it continues to make an impact more than fifty years after its completion. Its shape and anatomy remain distinctively unique, leaving behind an architectural afterglow in the eyes of the thousands of motorists that drive by every day. Philips Haus still conveys the visionary spirit of its designer, renowned Viennese architect Karl Schwanzer.

Apartment In Benfica / Atelier 106

January 25, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The original apartment had a characteristic structure of the time, with a long corridor for the distribution of the different spaces, quite compartmentalized. The customer’s only requirements were to maintain the existing T2 typology and to respect the budget ceiling – one of the project’s challenges. The first thing that made sense in an area-constrained apartment consisted of “dissolving” the long corridor that marked the spatial organization – functioning as the skeleton of the house – and giving it a function.

Montevideo 2759 / Garnerone + Ramos Arq

January 24, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

The project is presented as a self-management proposal of our studio aiming at commercializing profitable units in a city area with great investment potential. The search parameter was a land lot which allowed us to construct a building of approximately 700 square meters. Located a block to the south of Pellegrini Avenue and six blocks to the west of Oroño Boulevard, the building “Montevideo 2759” is placed on a rectangular lot 8.50 m front and 10.25 m deep. The 19 m-maximum height limit permitted by the Urban Code of Rosario (Código Urbano de Rosario) for that area was used, and two studio apartments per floor were developed.

Reconstruction of Apartment in Makedonska Street / Riste Dobrijevic

January 20, 2019 Rayen Sagredo 0

Background
During 1927-29, the Belgrade architect Dimitrija M. Leka designed and constructed a building at Makedonska 21. The building has all the characteristics of academism as reflected in Leka’s solutions for clear form, spatial organization, reduced academic decoration, and emphasis on the monumentality of “timeless” buildings. All these elements, characteristic of the architecture of the period, make this building one of Belgrade’s great representatives of academism in the period between the two world wars.

Cement surfaces, wooden joinery, and copper detailing appear inside this Barcelona apartment, which Cometa Architects has designed to subtly draw upon maritime imagery. Funenhof / Arons en Gelauff Architects

This project for eight family houses is situated near the Funenpark in the city centre of Amsterdam. The site is a small courtyard, behind a former school building turned into housing. These 8 single family houses are built on the location of a demolished small factory, which was used as a workspace and studio for a media company. The hidden and enclosed space reminds us of the typical Amsterdam courtyards from the middle Ages. The new intimate courtyard is designed together with Hosper Landscape Architecture and the inhabitants of the school. The owners have a small private outside space and the rest is communal space.

This apartment complex is located in one of the coldest areas of Mexico City, so the intention is to make it feel as warm as possible beginning with the building materials. We used a building block of a particular color to help it feel warmer. The orientation is also one of the top priorities we searched while designing this apartments. It is made up of 56 units, each fully equipped and designed to meet the highest standards.
