Maison Atelier / YH2 Architecture

The project reflects the natural evolution of this typical lot of Montreal towards greater densification. Over the last 20 years, the architectural firm has transformed this typical Montreal lot twice: First, with the creation in 2000 of the Maison Tour, a home/studio combination organized around an inner courtyard bracketed by a three-story vertical house and a workshop in a former garage at the back of the yard. Second, with the creation, based on the existing building at the back of the yard, of a second three-story home, the Maison Atelier yh2, independent of the original Maison Tour.

Martello Street apartment by Merrett Houmoller Architects

Exposed concrete walls and a set of “hit-and-miss” stairs add character to this formerly lacklustre apartment in east London, which has been overhauled by Merrett Houmøller Architects. Building of 73 Apartments / Muñoz Miranda Architects

June 17, 2019 Daniel Tapia 0

This is a project that appears on the seashore, near a preexistence of a protected smokestack from the beginning of the 20th century, that informs us of the industrial activity in that area, at that time the industrial outskirts of Malaga. Pairs of identical buildings were built, as if they were twins, on the seafront, like an extension of Malaga center, and converted it into a new promenade for the city, close to where the economic crisis had left the last two land plots unbuilt near the industrial vestige. Now, after more than a decade, this place is completed with two “stepbrothers” projects; by the same mother (the city plots) but different fathers (the architects of each project). The project aims to make it easier to understand the place linked to the smokestack of the twentieth century.
