La Arbolada House / Indiana Sarubi Arquitecta

On the first visit to the land, with the first look, the design premise of this new project was clear. Nature in its best expression and respect for it. On the adjoining land, a gallery forest, a protected area, maintained the essence of the place. How to ignore all the strength and energy that was lived there? The leading role here is shared, nature itself and the work built and designed from it. There is no attempt to stand out, but rather to coexist, always remembering the value of each part, in constant contemplation and gaze towards the remaining trees.

House in Montañeses Street / BHY arquitectos

The “Chorizo house” is a traditional typology that emerged in Buenos Aires at the end of the 19th century. This typology is characterized by a succession of consecutive rooms along a longitudinal courtyard. During the 30´ 40´ building the totality of the plot of land was allowed. Due to this along with real estate speculation, the lots became over-densified, with small constructions confined to the center of the block, exposed to poor lighting and ventilation conditions.

SNOW ARCHITEKTUR in Innsbruck (Tyrol) is focusing on individuality and design and wants to create a special atmosphere for every project. This philosophy was also implemented for the addition of another story to a detached house in Tyrol. The owners of the house have a personal connection to the Tyrolean mountains, which was an initial part of the conceptualization of the project.

With a plot by the sea, the challenge was to privilege the view from the whole house, using a quick construction based on concrete and metal structure, the open environment integrating the interior with the exterior in order to perceive the terrain as a unique space.

A ‘trailblazing’ building and a representational entryway to the city are arising with the new construction of Mercator One in Duisburg, Germany. The distinctive retreating fan-shaped façade that pivots at the short ends guides the streams of travelers and commuters from the flanking central railway station together with pedestrian flows from the inner city. At the same time, its out-of-the-ordinary silhouette that spawns new and surprising sightlines, again and again, turns the roughly 100-meter-long, 17-meter-wide, and 26-meter-high structure into a landmark for the surrounding urban quarter.

Falken Conversion / Think Architecture

August 14, 2022 Valeria Silva 0

The listed Art Nouveau building from 1835 was extensively renovated and expanded with a pavilion-like annex along the Aare River. Various alterations at the end of the last century obscured the quality of the historically valuable “Falken”. For example, the atrium as well as the ground floor were largely destroyed and – on the side of the Aare – the historic substance was extended without care.
