E House / Marina Senabre

May 3, 2020 Valeria Silva 0

The house is presented as a conversation between two architectural pieces. Two volumes that represent, on the one hand, the characteristic construction and building of the island of Menorca and, on the other, contemporary architecture. A small gabled piece and a rectangular prism look at each other and dialogue thanks to the language they both use: composition and aesthetics.

Light as protagonist. The house is located in a parcel in the middle of a block of 30 x 50 m. with moderate slope that descends to the street. The place is at the foot of Córdoba´s hills, in the city of Villa Allende. The House is born and takes its level on the back of the field, allowing it to raise and create a ‘balcony’ for the contemplation of the landscape; which is characteristic and a typical view of Córdoba. Its dialogue with nature is very strong, because the spirit of the place is linked to nature.

House in Kurakuen / uemachi laboratory

This is a house in a quiet residential area in Nishinomiya. The area around this site is lined with old houses, and you cannot see the scenery in the distance. The planting in the north adjacent area is a blindfold for the next house. We planned to have a courtyard by taking advantage of the long sites north and south. The south side of the road has a two-story structure, and the height of the building decreases toward the north.

Whale Island Café House / Design Lab so S.O Architects

When the client came our office first time, he told us about his plan of second life in Jeju with coffee, music and nature. Jeju Island is the most popular vacation spot in Korea, and the site he chose was located at the western end of the island, where sunset with Cha-gui-do (Whale Island) is visible. For him, the scenery of sunset with the island was the most important thing, so we designed an open trapezoidal building toward the island. Therefore in all indoor spaces, various sizes, proportions and windows of frames allow people to look at the island with different feelings from space to space.

House in Peruíbe / Vereda Arquitetos

May 1, 2020 Valeria Silva 0

The design for the House in Peruíbe begins with an existing house, very precarious from the point of view of its conservation. Above all, this existing house lacked the enjoyment potentialities that the site and the condition of being very close to beach offered, even though being in an urban lot and the house not being just for vacation.

Erasmus University Rotterdam Library Renovation / Defesche Van den Putte architecture + urbanism

April 30, 2020 Valeria Silva 0

The library building at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, built in 1968, is an example of brutalist architecture and is a municipal monument. It has been undergoing a sweeping renovation of its architecture and engineering installations. Having reached the end of its life-span, the building also needed upgrading to meet current and future ways of working. As more and more books are becoming digitalized, printed books are disappearing into the background. The renovated building will contain about 900 study spaces, 50 office spaces for staff, and the collections of the University Library and Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet.
