On accepting the responsibility of creating a Hotel-Residential project in a site with such beauty – an idyllic sanctuary open to the sea and protected by the Atlantic forest – a guideline immediately comes to mind: to respect and to emphasize the beauty of the place and its views, not only of the ocean but also of the preserved forest surrounding it, looking to integrate the project with the landscape instead of imposing itself into it.

Located in a gated community in São José do Rio Preto (São Paulo, Brazil), this house is the result of the work carried out by Studio Luiz Veneziano de Arquitetura. The project sought to solve the challenges proposed by its future owner: an uncluttered program, no excesses, a low-maintenance house, but which also incorporates outdoor spaces, perhaps as a large terrace, where they could comfortably host friends and relatives – and all this within a limited budget. The proposal intelligently integrated the indoor spaces with exits to the outside part of the house, making the most of natural light and ventilation.

On a tiny lot, on a corner in the heart of the city, this “tiny house” explores verticality, privacy, and permeability.

The site is located on the north face of the mountain and opens to the views of the Bocaina mountain range in the municipality of Cunha-SP. In this way, the implantation in an intermediate level and following the level curves allowed the accommodation in the land with little earth movement. One of the clients’ demands was that the house is on the ground, leaving the room and stepping on the ground was a condition for the project.

The house is located on the border between Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, in Bocaina de Minas, close to Visconde de Mauá, in the Morro Cavado Valley. Located on the margins of the Itatiaia National Park, its relationship with the terrain and landscape is the fundamental axis of its conception. The house was shaped by the design of the topography and built using low environmental impact construction techniques, taking advantage of locally available materials and the knowledge and labor of the region.

The apartment, located in one of the most emblematic squares of the city of Leiria, Praça Rodrigues Lobo, is on a corner lot within the historic core of the city in a building of 4 floors that have been completely remodeled, and the top attic floor, is where the apartment is located.

In our first incursion in Trancoso, Bahia, in the northeast region of Brazil, we projected the interior design of a 330 m² house designed by Studio OR + K for seasonal rent. Having that in mind, it was necessary to keep certain neutrality, but without giving up the rustic and chic atmosphere that is so striking in Quadrado, the main tourist spot in the village, where the house is located – and where it stands out for its white facade amidst the other colorful houses around it.

Located on the vast territory of Alentejo, the house emerges from an extensive tank leaning against a wall facing south, as if it were a sounding board for the entire landscape.
