YAC –Young Architects Competitions–, BT Group​, and Marina di Loano launch LEISURE HARBOR, a competition of ideas aiming to re-design one of the 10 most important marinas of Europe. The cash prize of € 20, 000 will be distributed to the winning proposals selected by an international jury panel made of, among the others: Manuel Aires Mateus, Patrick Lüth (Snøhetta), Huang Wenjing (OPEN Architecture), Paolo Matteuzzi (Zaha Hadid Architects).

As an important birthplace and practical realization of the concept “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,” Lishui has assumed the responsibility of exploring the construction of contemporary ShanShui cities. With this background in mind, we hope to build upon Lishui’s status as a “traditional Chinese ShanShui city” to organically combine the spirit of Chinese ShanShui together with contemporary waterfront urban development concepts. The goal is to methodically construct a ShanShui city spatial framework in order to set a model image for this city typology, to create a new ShanShui city lifestyle, and to explore contemporary, sustainable urban planning strategies.

IE School of Architecture and Design is announcing the 7th edition of their IE Architecture+ Prize for young architects and designers, looking to attract top talent from around the world to take part in one of the school’s master’s programs for the upcoming academic year. For all those who believe that business and design are stronger together, if you graduated between 2010 and 2020 and were ranked in the top 25% of your class, you are eligible to compete for the IE Architecture+ Prize.

Quebec has risen to the occasion by specializing in the manufacturing of glulam beams (Glue Laminated Timber) and CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber). Wood structures as a whole have come a long way in the eyes of architects and engineers, according to the US Representative for Wood Construction at QWEB, Eli Gould.
