Perfumer H Seoul / Chakchak Studio

Defining the spatial identity of an overseas brand that deals with delicate fragrances is a profound challenge. In this project, we turned to the philosophy of ‘Daegang (大綱)’. While often used in modern Korean to mean ‘roughly’ or ‘in general,’ the Chinese characters tell a deeper story: 大 (Great) and 綱 (The Main Stay/Head-rope of a Net).

An Mien Lumiere Cafe / xưởng xép

January 17, 2026 Miwa Negoro 0

An Miên is a coffee brand built on pride in the authentic values of quality coffee, closely associated with the image of the roasting workshop—where aroma, heat, and the rhythm of industrial operations coexist. The space is conceived as an extension of this spirit, where the act of enjoying coffee is framed through materiality, light, and emotion.

This project is conceived as an architectural work of resonance—a place where art is created, exhibited, and explored. We sought to establish a setting where stories can be told, where each artwork has its own light, and where each exhibition is given the freedom to take shape.

Architecture as a Living Medium: Get to Know the Works of IGArchitects

January 16, 2026 Miwa Negoro 0

Founded in 2020 by Masato Igarashi, IGArchitects is an architectural practice based in Tokyo and Saitama, Japan. The studio, one of the winners of the ArchDaily 2025 Next Practices Awards, explores enduring architecture through a careful yet assertive treatment of structure, scale, and materiality. Prior to establishing his own practice, Igarashi worked at the large-scale firm Shimizu Sekkei as well as the Suppose Design Office, gaining experience across projects ranging from major developments to smaller, concept-driven works. This breadth of experience continues to inform IGArchitects’ current focus on residential and commercial architecture across Japan.

Terrarium House / Unknown Surface Studio

Amidst the restless energy of Bangkok’s Ladprao district, Terrarium House sits quietly on a unique, ladle-shaped plot. With a narrow three-meter access road leading to a square site hemmed in by neighbors on all four sides, the land initially seemed landlocked. However, the design turns this constraint into its greatest asset, flipping the perspective to create an inward-looking sanctuary—a private world entirely detached from the chaos outside.

House in Saidera / Akio Isshiki Architects

The site is a flagpole-shaped lot located amid a mixture of traditional Japanese houses and contemporary developer-built homes. In designing a house for a family of five suited to this place, the image I had in mind was that of a traditional Japanese house. Timber framing is exposed through shinkabe construction (shinkabe: a traditional Japanese method in which columns and beams are expressed), resulting in a stripped-down appearance free of excess. At a time when construction costs continue to rise, I believe that reconsidering the wisdom embedded in traditional Japanese houses was a rational approach.
