“Like Epicures once said, good food, good friends, and good wine is the perfect way to live life.”- I wanted a place where I can enjoy and live my people.” the client Mr. Yash Vasant briefed the concept for his house. “The house should be the place where I can take a pause from my daily routine, energize and get back to routine.” He added. Thus this became the purpose of building this weekend home. Bunker 319 is a remain from Swedish military activities on Northern Gotland, a hidden eagle’s nest with a squinting window shutter toward the Baltic Sea. The project of Bunker 319 originated in the office of Skälsö Arkitekter and was later executed in the newly formed atelier of Ateljé Ö. Located on a steep hillside above the Damariscotta River in mid-coast Maine, the Residence Hall supports the Bigelow Laboratory for Marine Science’s educational mission by providing living facilities for college students and visiting scientists. Originally programmed as a dormitory on the top of the hill with visiting scientist cottages down by the water, the design team combined the students and scientists in one shared facility midway between the labs and the waterfront. The Residence Hall is designed so the students and scientists can live and learn together, sharing meals, ideas, fellowship, and recreation.

The curved shapes of a 1936 modernist building have been extended in height in a new addition. The transformation clarifies the crescent in the street of the former factory building. The old building has been designated with a high conservation value from the conservation authorities. The task of adding the new extension has therefore included great care for the existing architecture.

Located in the city center of Charleroi, the new Polomé’s jewelry is established in a former supermarket. Starting from an undefined space in which deepness was emphasized by a uniform suspended ceiling covering the entire surface, the aim of the architectural intervention is to erase this connotation by highlighting existing singularities, hidden under several finishing layers.

Y Cabin / Oslotre

March 20, 2022 Luciana Pejić 0

Y cabin is located in the Vikerfjell mountain range in Ringerike, Norway. Extending slightly out over a small crag, it peeks out between the pine trees and gazes upon a northern forest landscape. The building volume branches out in three directions from a central pivot point, where six differently angled cross-laminated timber slats meet. This creates a complex roof geometry that allows for an open and flexible space, eliminating the need for beams and columns.
