The Light House / bioi. Design + Build

March 12, 2022 Luciana Pejić 0

At its heart, this inner-city home is about evolving what has become an all too typical recipe for infill housing. Where most infill houses follow the same stacked program and formal strategies (especially in Calgary), this project seeks to create a home within the established city that is specific to place by utilizing site-specific environmental constraints and natural forces, the building seeks to create a sustainable and durable home.

Three Houses and a Yard Under Lysá Hora / PAPOUSEK & SILHAN ARCHITECTS

March 11, 2022 Luciana Pejić 0

Three houses and a yard form the maintenance area of the Golf & Ski Resort in Ostravice. At the project’s beginning, many considerations were raised about the role of architecture and urbanism in the field of purely pragmatic purpose-built facilities. Today’s hectic world bound by economic criteria usually does not leave much space to design these buildings other than by following the most economical architectonic, urbanistic, and material solutions. Approaching the brief the other way round became both a clear philosophy and a challenge to our design.

Casa a Reggio Emilia / Leonardo Peressa

March 9, 2022 Luciana Pejić 0

Located in a lot just outside the historic center of Reggio Emilia, the building, dating back to the ’50s, appeared rather out of place compared to the neighborhood in which it was located. Built in masonry with load-bearing walls, it was easily recognizable by its roof, whose slope was rather unusual for the region, being of a very pronounced angle.

Tegel Quartier / Max Dudler

March 6, 2022 Luciana Pejić 0

Inspired by legendary Berlin department store architecture, Max Dudler has redesigned the facades for the northern part of the Tegel Quartier. With two staggered tower superstructures and the motif of cascading facade pilasters, the architecture becomes a new focus of attraction for this revitalized pedestrian zone. The project, commissioned by HGHI Holding GmbH, is part of an undertaking that redefines Gorkistrasse – set at the heart of Berlin’s Reinickendorf district – as an urban shopping street. The entire project will reach completion this year, including the southern part, also designed by Max Dudler. Circa two-thirds of the new shops have already opened. The Rautenbach and Pechtold architecture offices have been commissioned with the planning and execution of the interiors.

Greenbriar Residence / CONTENT Architecture

March 5, 2022 Luciana Pejić 0

The Greenbriar Residence conceives of the house as a collection of stones clustered around a pool of water. Within the house, each stone volume contains a specific aspect of the program, providing spaces for living, dining, cooking, relaxing, playing, and sleeping. These separate volumes are linked through the movement of the home’s occupants, wrapping around an interior courtyard and pool at the center of the site. Each of these volumes visually connect to the courtyard, framing various views of this interior landscape.

House for a Photographer / ValArch Atelier

Premek´s land looked like a nice peaceful meadow under the forest but the whole thing looked easier than it actually was. The land lies on the border of the third and fourth zones of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. Even though there are original buildings from the 1970s all around, we had to make a great effort to build this house. The orientation of the plot was not quite ideal either but nothing we could not handle.
