The client’s vision was a vegan ice cream shop using only bananas which are too old for sale but just perfect for ice cream. The shop is located in the side wing of Sendliner Tor and a central pedestrian area. However due to its small shopfront pedestrians needed to be attracted and the shop needed to draw attention. The exiting entrance door was replaced with a tree wing door to fully open and to melt the interior with the exterior.
House that observes, maybe mystifies. Nevertheless, it fulfills the wish of its owner to get a functional yet inspiring space despite a limited budget. And also the aim of the architects is to create a house with inner complexity, and outer simplicity, contemporary yet reflecting its vernacular context.
In Krombeke, a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders, Minus interior architects built the interior of the new home base of the Belgian outdoor brand Moróro. The headquarters of the design label consists of two buildings with stylish barn allures that are oriented perpendicular to each other and surrounded by nature, perfectly reconciling the DNA of both companies.
Located at the corner of Rue de l’Aqueduc and Rue Kirouac, Ozias is a multi-residential project of ten through-and-through dwellings on two floors. It is articulated by following the layout of the neighborhood to clear a green backyard accessible to all occupants.
The building, a 1924 eclecticist galleria located in the city’s center, and its spectacular atmosphere were the major characteristics while thinking about the design concept, even though the interference with the shell was minimal by choice. The design was built up around the idea of gatherings in private courtyards surrounded by artisanal peculiar items, a hospitality take on cabinets de curiosités.
The natural element that we used as a starting point for the design of this project was the presence of the vineyard. The modular order of the vineyard system has been reported in the measures of the spaces of the house, the module of 2.50m, the distance between the rows of the vineyard, becomes the basic module applied to the volumes, which reflects the same logic of the vineyard. The vineyard, through the building, was deliberately made to become the prevailing landscape inside the house.
From the first sketches, the 54 avenue Montaigne project has been positioned as a continuation of the approach undertaken by FRESH Architectures in terms of rehabilitation: imagining the transformation of the existing building while taking into account the issues of durability and comfort of use, and ensuring the coherence of the project in its environment.
The house is part of a small city renovation in the west of Amsterdam. Ten self-build houses and three collective housing projects share a mutual semi-private entrance road. The road connects to the gardens of the houses while the main entrances are located on the park side.
Kabelovna Studios are located in a former electrical cable-making factory in the district of Holesovice, in the heart of Prague, Czech Republic. The facility, which was constructed in 1908, is a part of Prague’s workers’ colony since the 1870s. Since then, the area has developed around the former factory, while preserving the industrial atmosphere that exists within the city block that houses it. The hall in which the studios are set brings together several artistic entities: a fashion designer, a painter, a screen-printing production business, and lastly the recording studios, thus creating a vibrant creative environment.
On the edge of the city center of Pécs and the slopes of Mecsek, situated in the southwestern part of Hungary, the apartment house with its compact, flat-roofed mass wants to fit into the rather mixed, heterogeneous environment of Gebauer Ernő street. In Gebauer Ernő street, the family houses and the flat-roofed, modernist apartment houses built in the second part of the 20th century, – the latter ones with fine details, clinker brick inserts, concrete balconies, natural stone plinths – can be observed, which are the evidence of quality built environment.
