A ‘Tween generation’ refers to children between the ages of 12 and 16 in Korea which is little bit different age group than other countries. Children of this age begin to build their own identity and want to explore the world. But there are only few resources available for the tween generation despite of that’s huge impact on them. In order to provide a THIRD SPACE -not just school, not just home- for their exploration, a project was started and <OOZOORO 1216> could be located on third floor of the Jeonju Municipal Library which was newly constructed building.

The hotel is close to Tha-Pae gate, another important landmark inside the old Chiang Mai town. The big site hosting the hotel belongs to the hotel’s partner, which consists of several houses and some part of it was once constructed with dormitory. Witklipfontein Eco Lodge / GLH Architects

March 10, 2020 Hana Abdel 0

The lodge is designed to blend and disappear into the surrounding nature. The ground carpet of the hill has just been lifted a little to slip the house under it. The architecture is a unique combination of traditional vernacular building techniques with modern minimalist design. Overlooking the plains, panoramic views blur the boundaries between the interior and the surrounding nature allowing for a unique bush living experience. The climate in the Free State region with its large thermal daily variance of 20 degrees lends itself to the use of the principle of Thermal Mass instead of mechanical air-conditioning. The thermal mass flattens the temperatures throughout the year by using thick stone walls, earth walls (rammed earth, adobe and sandbag) and the green roof.

Kuan-Yan Gallery / Republic Design

March 9, 2020 Hana Abdel 0

The concept of this F&B space is slightly different from general cafes or art galleries concept, which is more likely presented by an artistic way. Fundamentally the lengthy narrow shaped shop lot is hidden between buildings and alleys which is not given much natural sunlight. Thus, we tried to break through the ordinary narrow layout with more curvy and variable elements. We also do believe that a minimalist environment does not equal to simple and dull.

March 8, 2020 Hana Abdel 0

This is the fourth time we come back to Phu Quoc to start something new, once again to work with a young couple whose home was our second project here. This time, on a 500-square-meter land, the challenge is 10 studios for rent, the Michelia Apartments. The site locates in Bung Goi, on a small street which is a merely urbanized neighborhood. With its Northern side meets the main route while three other sides face empty landscape, the site offers a chance to harvest sunlight as well as employ ventilation. Beside it also makes direct sunray and heat raise among some of the most serious problems to deal with.

One House / Drawing Works

A Solo Forest Dwelling – A farmhouse, on a site of an area of 670m2, sits atop a steep slope at a height of 60m from the access road. The client wanted a house in which to live with his parents so he could move to this remote, tranquil town. He approached us to fulfill the design of a new house in which he might live alone as neighbour to the existing farmhouse, within the confines of the lot owned by his parents. This house had to feature a kitchen and storage space on the first floor, and a room that connected to the existing farming house on second floor. In other words, he wanted to use the first floor as an open, shared space, and the second floor as a private space. Before the client met us, he drew up a floor plan to sketch out the arrangement and size, also studying and compiling data to do with various eco-friendly materials and facilities.

In the Mountains House / Ant Studio

March 8, 2020 Hana Abdel 0

An abode where one can commence each day with a view of the first ray of sunlight hitting the pinnacle of the Himalayas and culminate with a warm tangerine glow basked over: is the charming imagery which forms the crux of the recently completed residence by Ant Studio. With the intent of complementing the rugged beauty of the Himalayas, this residence derives its form from contours & slopes of the surrounding mountains; while seeking to become a part of the terrain.
