Shikhara House / Wallmakers

Set against one of the silent hilltops of Trivandrum, the site was located at the highest point in that particular part of the woods. The client was somebody who loved to travel and planned frequent escapades to distant lands, all over the country. The Himalayas had always caught his attention and intrigued him the most and he was lucky that his abode too would be just as reclusive, set into the lovely hilltop. However, being a west facing site one would have to hold up a hand to shield their eyes from the harsh west sun. That ‘hand’ was re-imagined as a slanting wall along the site giving birth to the concept of conceiving the residence as – Shikhara ( Peak)

Public Layer for Public Office – Waterworks offices are places where many civil servants work and open to all. The aim of the project was to ask, "How can public works facilities have publicity?" We have considered new ways of building
publicity out of the authoritative and restrictive forms of existing public architecture. We redefine the publicity of public buildings in three stages. The three steps are as follows: an efficient connection between new and existing buildings, the facade of a public building, and a park that is easily accessible to everyone.

CJ House / RUANGRONA

Located in a residential complex that is quite densely populated, CJ-HOUSE by RUANGRONA, is designed with a different, unique, and catchy modern facade than residential buildings in general in Indonesia. Massively closed from the front, the opening is located on the side of the building. Had appeared a sense of worry about the light in the house, but the number of openings to the side and skylights became a solution in bringing some lights to the house that appears blocked from the front. In response to the situation around the building which is directly adjacent to the residential area, the dwelling is designed with an inward orientation, so that residents can enjoy their residence without interruption.

Baraka Seaside Residence / PAD10 Architects

Approached by the Client with an archetype (a barn), we celebrated it rather than suppress it, by elevating it from its site, while treating all other structures as non-architectural; submerging one within the landscape, to be one with it, and merging the other with the perimeter concrete fence. Elevating the barn (family house) maximizes its views without blocking the same to rear structures on the relatively deep site.

Slices of Time / Emmanuelle Moureaux Architecture + Design

April 4, 2020 Hana Abdel 0

Inspired by the location of the gallery, near to the Greenwich Meridian marking time, “Slices of Time” expresses the past, the now and the future through 168,000 small numbers composing 120 “slices” of time, hanged in the space, as a round representation of the earth floating. Composed of 100 layers of numbers in 100 shades of colors and 20 layers of numbers in white, the installation visualizes the next 100 years to come (2020 to 2119) and the past 20 years (2000 to 2019) represented in white. “Slices of Time” is part of Emmanuelle’s “100 colors” installation series.
