The Offbeat Sari Exhibition / Studio MUTT

July 9, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

Project Overview. The Offbeat Sari, at the Design Museum 19 May – 17 September 2023, explores the radical 21st Century overhaul of the sari, shedding a rare spotlight on contemporary Indian fashion for UK audiences. Curated by Priya Khanchandani and designed by Studio MUTT with Sthuthi Ramesh and Beam LD, the show presents the sari as a site for design innovation, an expression of identity and resistance, and a crafted object carrying layers of new materialities. Around 60 examples of trailblazing saris from the last decade are shown in an exhibition asserting one of today’s most important global fashion stories, the true nature of which is little-known beyond South Asia.

Potocka Apartments / POLE Architekci

July 9, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The structure is situated on a relatively small rectangular building plot located on Potocka Street in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district. An important factor that impacted the building’s form was the existing surroundings. The plot contained two free-standing buildings designated for demolition due to their poor technical condition. Following a historical survey arranged with the relevant Conservation officer, the two existing apartment buildings were demolished. The block on which the parcel is located is a holdover from the old urban and geodesic layout on which the Marymont-Potok housing estate was built. Compared to the high-rise Communist-era housing estate buildings and the large Marymont sports and recreation complex across Potocka Street, the parcel appears rather small.

TAS 63 House / OTONOM

July 8, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The project was initiated as a small refurbishment project to a thirteen-year-old house’s front yard, façade, and carport that was not carefully built and planned. Some of the most fundamental issues revolved around the carport structural failures that resulted in a tilted carport canopy and columns, the façade deteriorating finishes, unorganized cabling that was developed over the years, and a relatively undefined front yard. Within this limited brief and project area, we saw an opportunity to conduct an extensive series of responses towards the existing: to strip out the meaningless ornamental façade elements, to reinforce the existing structure, and to redefine the new architectural gestures of the house that contrast the preexisting banal developer façade aesthetic.

Swiss House / Dan & Hila Israelevitz Architects

July 8, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The house is in central Israel in a vibrant residential neighborhood, with 300 m2 of floor space, covering a 500 m2 plot. The concept of the house, in line with the credo of Israelevitz Architects, is hiding more than it reveals. However, in this house, the concept is louder, more prominent, and dominant than ever.

Danubio Budapest Building / T2.a Architects

July 8, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

Designed by T2a Architects and completed recently on the site of a former river gravel pit on the banks of the Danube in Budapest, the Danubio residential building responds to the unique urban and natural environment, partially overriding the rules of Budapest real estate developers, and realizes a concept that treats sustainability not only as a slogan but also revives many pre-existing but now forgotten architectural solutions and recreates them in a modern, timeless form.

HSC Cemetery / Objektor

July 8, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The winning competition proposal for the new cemetery is based on existing qualities of the area – treetops of an elderly chestnut alley, horizons of surrounding fields, existing cemetery wall, the chapel of St. Wenceslas, and axis of a trail leading to the rocky lookout towards Goat ridges. We define the cemetery area through structures, principles, and materials; dividing the space by a grid of cemetery walls and paths enables the easy growth of the cemetery according to capacity needs in the future while maintaining the general concept.

Florasdorfer Spitz Building / Freimüller Söllinger Architektur + Studio Vlay Streeruwitz

July 6, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

How do you create a space that is both urban in density and rural in character in the midst of two highways? That is exactly what Florasdorfer Spitz aims to incorporate: to create an environment that truly embodies the claim “city meets village.” To meet this challenge, four specific qualities were identified and integrated into the project: the specifics of Florasdorf’s typology, the reserve on Pragerstrasse, the attractive eastern side, and the vertical green spaces.

The Ridge – V&A Waterfront / StudioMAS

July 5, 2023 Hadir Al Koshta 0

The design involved a close collaborative process between studioMAS and Arup. The result is a rational design in which architecture and engineering are thoroughly integrated, having been developed side by side from the earliest conceptual stage. The façade, executed using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), gives the building its distinct identity.
