Beefclub ‘Fire and Salt’ Restaurant / Ester Bruzkus Architekten

June 18, 2024 Hadir Al Koshta 0

Beef Club is the radical refresh of a beloved eatery in Autostadt, the automotive theme park at the headquarters of Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg. The new design offers two different dining rooms for different kinds of atmospheres: a joyful social area in the front that overlooks an outdoor terrace and an elegant private area in the rear where small groups can gather for celebrations or more confidential meals. At the center of the pub is the theatrical preparation of food on a grill – the menu of Beef Club features both grilled meats and vegetables. An open brick fireplace is located where everyone can see it, recalling the power of an archaic fire at the center of a shared dining experience.

Garden Pavilion / BYRÓ architekti

Clients for whom the garden pavilion is designed own a large mature garden in the middle of the city, which is also just a ten-minute walk from their apartment. When the clients are in their garden, they try to spend as much time outdoors as possible and come to us with a specific and perhaps slightly paradoxical task. They wanted a new structure on the site of the original dilapidated cottage, but at the same time, they didn’t want to close off the garden. The building was supposed to offer only modest space, primarily in adverse weather, and allow for occasional overnight stays in the summer months. An additional function for the winter season was to provide a space for storing plants, somewhat resembling a winter garden.

The Preserve South Beach creates an identity all its own in the Miami skyline with its new headquarters. Paying homage to Miami Beach’s rich architectural history, the new hub bridges past and present by incorporating elements of the city’s signature Art Deco style with a modern glass window façade. It marries the company’s hospitality roots with its home base’s heritage using a palette of natural elements and expressed stucco floor plates, seamlessly interlacing the landscape into its Gensler-led design. The result is an innovative and uniquely Miami headquarters that is launching its neighborhood’s evolution from a mere resort town to a successful mixed-use community.

The house will serve as their primary residence and also offer a seasonal rental activity. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all communications and design discussions with the clients were conducted via video call, which was an unusual but successful approach. The first in-person meeting occurred when the construction work began.

Battersea Roof Gardens, a mixed-use building, and 50 Electric Boulevard, an adjacent office building with 200,000 square feet of new workspace, have both been completed. Part of the third phase of the Battersea Power Station masterplan, the two buildings sit on the western side of Electric Boulevard, a split-level high street that runs from the Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground station to the Grade II* listed landmark. The new buildings and high street share a gently undulating form, which has been designed to maximize views of the power station. The meandering street offers a wide range of restaurants and shops, receding and expanding at the upper level to create unique vantage points and moments of pause for people as they walk along.
