The Crescent House / DROO Architects

The main aim of the design was to maximize the usage of the tight side of the plot. We created a unique space responding to this premise by orienting the kitchen to the light and creating a little nook for extra storage and the owner’s library of books, spices, plants, herbs, and the rest.

Context – An emblematic urban development project in the Montpellier metropolitan area, the Port Marianne district stems from an ambitious vision to extend the city towards the sea. To the west, on the banks of the Lez, the Port Marianne ZAC, developed by A+Architecture, marked the first step in this significant urban project. To the east, on the banks of the Lironde, the République ZAC designed by Nicolas Michelin represents the culmination, both physically and temporally, of this city’s extension towards the Mediterranean. It will extend beyond its boundaries by organizing the southern entrance of Montpellier and creating a new urban facade that is visible from major national and international transportation infrastructures (A709, A9, and the high-speed rail line).

Curonians Houses / Devyni Architektai

​A small residential complex on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The concept is based on the Curonian architectural style, which inspired the design of a modern village with a small community, maintaining a respectful distance between its members. To express the uniqueness of the location, the architectural design was modeled after a fisherman’s house, featuring large sloped roofs and a rectangular building plan.

T-A-St-Germain Library / ACDF Architecture

ACDF Architecture is proud to present the newly inaugurated T-A-St-Germain Library, located in downtown Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. Versatile and dynamic, the new library encourages spontaneous encounters, informal exchanges, discoveries, and self-fulfillment in a warm and tranquil environment. Going beyond the traditional model of a library focused on learning through reading, this 52,200 sqft. cultural hub offers a varied program spread over 3 floors. Key functions include 2 multi-purpose rooms, an exhibition area, a co-working space, multimedia creation studios (FabLab), a computer lab, a café, a terrace, and well-defined zones for children, teenagers, and adults. The first stone of a new waterfront corridor – In line with the City of Saint-Hyacinthe’s structuring vision to stem the exodus of merchants and residents from the historic downtown area to new urban development hubs along major roads and highways, the City of Saint-Hyacinthe has acquired a strategic site in the downtown core. Bordering the Yamaska River and the Barsalou Bridge, the site is an important point of access to downtown for communities living on the west bank of the river. “The project serves as the starting point for a major urban development project dedicated to the enhancement of the Yamaska River,” explains ACDF President, Maxime-Alexis Frappier. “The decision was therefore made to position the new library at the heart of the arts and culture section of the new 1.5-mile pedestrian and bicycle river corridor.”

Fasanen 36 Apartment Block / CAMA A

Newly built apartment block with underground car park. Compaction of a not quite-typical Berlin block. Given the increasing housing shortage and rising rents, the question of how more living space can be developed in Berlin is pressing. Our new six-storey building, constructed on around 240 square metres of a garden plot in Charlottenburg’s Fasanenstrasse, has created around 1,100 square metres of new living space in the heart of the city.

Mondadori Office Playground / Carlo Ratti Associati

CRA, in collaboration with Generali Real Estate and publisher Mondadori Group, transforms the offices within Oscar Niemeyer’s Palazzo Mondadori in Italy into a Playground Workspace. The project proposes a radical renovation of modern furniture, aiming to create a fully reconfigurable work environment. International design and innovation office CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati, in collaboration with the late Italo Rota (1953-2024) and Maestro Technologies, has developed a renovation project for Palazzo Mondadori in Milan, owned by Generali Real Estate. The building is considered one of Oscar Niemeyer’s masterpieces, and it hosts the headquarters of the Mondadori Group, the leading Italian book publisher. The design by CRA honors the original design while introducing innovative strategies for the future of the workplace. The first step of the project deals with more than 20,000 square meters, with a wider renovation program of Niemeyer’s main European landmark set to follow.

Intermunicipal Library Alberto De Eccher dall’Eco / DAP Studio

The historic former Equipe 5 winery has been redeveloped to house a Cultural Hub that includes the Civic Library with attached Study Rooms, the Historical Archive, and a Conference Room. These spaces, open to the entire community, become a fundamental point of reference for city life. The Library offers books, newspapers, study stations, internet access, music, armchairs, spaces for children, meeting rooms, and various courses. The Cultural Hub aims not only to provide well-structured spaces and services but also, as library design expert Antonella Agnoli states, to create “an atmosphere, a way of being together, of consulting, of exploring, of spending time, of cultivating relationships with others.” The Ex Equipe 5 building is located in the heart of the historic center, in an area characterized by a compact urban fabric with inner lots accessible through narrow paths. The main access, for those coming from the city center, is through an alley leading to an internal garden, while a secondary entrance opens onto Via De Gasperi. In front of the building, a succession of Doric columns creates a screen parallel to the facade, defining the entrance area to the new Center and marking the boundary between the paved surface and the green area.

Alma 24 House / Maria José Benech + Stéphane Asselin

The Alma-24 project is located on the northwest shore of Lake Saint-Jean, the third-largest lake in the province of Quebec (Canada). Offering breathtaking panoramic views, the shoreline landscape alternates between miles of sandy beaches and imposing rugged rocky surfaces. The site was home to an abandoned summer pavilion partially erected on the protected coastal strip. Sensitive to the protection of the territory and the revaluation of its natural features, the new owners wanted to build the single-family residence on a renaturalized site. The first stage of dismantling the deteriorated structures made it possible to restore the natural profile of the topography, revealing its original identity, and determining the location of the future residence while minimizing deforestation.
